On SNES, experiences like Donkey Kong Country and Super Mario Kart were popular because they were the best. The same goes for Metal Gear, Gran Turismo, Smash Bros, and great deal more popular game franchises. They were great because those games aimed to be the absolute best, not just to imitate PC games and shoot for fantastic graphics.

Funny, it's when consoles started imitating PCs that many of these sort of games simply vanished.

We've seen every single one of those games get released this gen. So I don't think "vanished" is the right word. :?

Those franchises are no longer new experiences. We aren't seeing "new experiences" on the level of Mario Kart, DKC, etc. is what I'm saying. But when originally released, those games were new experiences.

Minecraft is original. Oh wait, it's born on the PC. Guess the PC is now the underdog lol.

[QUOTE="ms555"]umm, those games that matter are all on the consoles anyways, though so i dont get ur point.....but one thing is for certain, the PC BF3 will be the superior one...thats basically already been established.... but i dont care about PC gaming too much, i never understand why people do. I mean for those that have the luxury to buy expensive PC's and constantly update their video card and specs, more power to them....but it is just so much more work and hastle than just buying a console and just playing the games on a big HD television, ya know? The PC gamers are definitley a minority today. I respect PC games, but i just personally dont care, and i can tell you that outside of Gamespot forums not too many people care anymore either unless ur talking in regards to like Starcraft and World of Warcraftms555

I personally don't understand why people enjoy consoles outside of Nintendo consoles (Because Mario and Zelda are timeless.) It doesn't really cost that much to keep a PC up-to-date. If you want the best of the best, you gotta pay for it though. Its in no way a hassle. You can play PC on a HDTV (Which monitors were long before HDTV was even a marketing term.) We aren't really the minority. In the USA and Japan we don't have the marketing push since its a free platform. Europe is really huge on the PC gaming market. Ever see one of their LAN parties? Nothing wrong with being the minority. Freedom > limitations :P

Battlefield 3 will definitely be the best on PC. DICE has incredible developers. Skyrim will also be far superior on PC due to mods. Mods made Oblivion actually enjoyable. It felt too boring, broken, and lifeless without mods. Crysis 2? I assume once we see some PC footage peoples' minds will be blown, twice.

i agree though that often times the PC games are the superior versions...but it IS difficult to keep them up to date honestly..its expensive, its like a console ur never done paying off, u know....plus u gotta install and download it too, which is a small but really annoying pain on the side. COnsoles are easily accessible, just plug in, throw in the CD, and ur done. I dont criticize PC gaming really, i just dont get why so many SW posters like to push it so much when honestly, idk, i just dont see the point....thats all just me though, u know....just my personal opinion is all

No it is not. Im a college student. Payed 350 euro's for my rig a year aho. Only upgrade wich I made was an used GTX260 for 70 bucks. I can max out all games except Crysis with a framerate and resolution your console can only dream of. Have fun playing ugly games with jaggy edges and screen tearing on your HDTV lol. Oh I forgot, you don't notice it because u've probably never played on PC. I can also tell your a close minded yankee. Preferably from a suburb looking at the stupid posts u make. USA= Stupid People=More Consoles In Europe PC gaming is booming. Sweden and other Scandinavian countries 95% PC gaming territory. Eastern Europe has a massive uprising in PC gaming developement en pro gaming scenes. Russia is all PC gaming. France is still being dominated by PC gaming. I game on PC because my standards simply are higher than yours to meet. FACT. And nobody is pushing it, people are telling the truth. Oh and get Steam plz. Gaming eaze like 'plug in and play' is totally irrelevant.

"The fact that we're showing off great games like Gunstringer; the first games where we've got great developers that know how to make core games with Kinect, and now you're starting to see the result of that. This is absolutely just the beginning."

Interesting.

We'll see, MS. But have to say I liked what I saw of gunstringer. If devs can make compelling games for Kinect then I will respect their creativity even more than I respect devs now.

The problem is that, the Kinect itself as hardware isn't compelling at all lol.

I love upgrading my hardware. I get to install it myself & tweak it too! Beats unboxing a console imo.

blackace
You get to play a lot sooner when unboxing a game console then building a PC. Building a PC is slow and dull. I'm most excited to come home with a bran new console and 3-4 games ready to play. When I come home with all the parts to build my PC, I'm not overly thrilled, Once it's built, I'm always hoping the few games I have for it will run smoothly with no problems.

I get excited that every upgrade to my PC moves me one generation ahead of consoles. My last upgrade was an AMD Hexacore CPU. See you at the finish :D

Haha. I see what you are saying but as long as developers keep releasing unoptomized garbage (Black Ops) then people will always need the new video cards.

CoD 4, a game that looks almost the same as Black Ops.

CoD 4 FPS = Over 100 Black Ops FPS = 60 down to 30 when a Napalm Strike goes off.

They are getting lazy because games look the same as 3 years ago but somehow I am getting lower FPS.

CwlHeddwyn
that's done on purpose, it's been going on for years. It's to get you to UPGRADE! Ideally you buy a graphics card, use it for a couple of years then Upgrade to a newer one. That's what ATI & Nvidia want. They don't want developers to optimise games to run well on 3-4 year old graphics cards! They want graphics cards to age and age pretty quicky.! So you buy a new one, preferably high end.

Yes, that's true. But in case of black ops it totally treyarch's screw up. Do you really think when someone's new bought GTX500 cards show slowdowns on a graphically mediocre game like blackops Nvidia gains a good reputation? PC gamers are smart, they know what framerates they can expect from a graphic quality level. And in case of Black Ops it's totally unacceptable that it runs **** than let's say BFBC2 wich is superior on PC in every single way.

Guild Wars 2 Firefall ( this will be a revolution in MMOFPS) Red Orchestra 2 The Old Republic 2 ( most expensive EA/Bioware game in production) Diablo 3 Battlefield 3 ( this is actually a PC exclusive because consoles get the heavely cutted down version) Heroes of Might and Magic VI DOTA 2 ( made by Valve) DoWII: Retribution End of Nations ( epic RTS, check out the trailer) The Black Mirror III + PC get's all the multiplats with double the resolution, framerate and modding. Gonna be great!

[QUOTE="percech"]PC gamers are REALLY into the tech. Well, a lot of them anyway. At some points, the tech becomes more important than the actual game. taterfrickintot
i enjoy the playing with the hardware too. i made a few upgrades to my PC so i could play Company of heroes (yes my pc was that bad) and i enjoyed it, i just find that people seem to drop unnecessary amounts of money into them. just my opinion though. to each his own.

Some people drop lots of money into tuning their car, others spend a couple of hundred a week on drinks in the weekend, and again other people are gadget freaks who buy every new model of phone. Unnecessary money spending is something completely subjective. I for instance don't like spending money on 5 year old hardware wich I know have limited capabilities wich do not meet my demands. hell, im a college student, don t have parents who back me up but do everything for my hobby. Wich is building PC's and gaming. I have a regular job in the weekends at a restaurant wich earns me enough to live from and put some money aside for my gaming needs including PC upgrades. You act like it's only for the super rich or something. My current build costed me in total 350 euro's ( about 450 $) and that s really budget in PC terms. But i can max out almost every game and didn t spend a dime last year. Im saving now 150 euro's for a new graphics card and than im ready for BF3. In the meantime you keep paying for overpriced console games wich have 0 replayability due to lack of mods and community support. And of you go to the next 60 dollar big shot.
