Sounds like you have a grasp on it already, but just to clarify...

The Chat Cable connects from the headset (small black plug) to your PC's mic input (pink plug). The green one is NOT used on a PC because the green jack on your PC needs to send audio to the transmitter. That's what they're talking about in regard to a 3.5mm-to-3.5mm cable. The green plug on the Chat Cable is only for use on a PS3 because the console needs to send and receive the chat.

Def get the x11 i would go as far as getting the dx11, which is the x11's and a turtle beach dss which turns the x11s into amazing 5.1 dolby surrond sound. And i agree with the post above saying that treyarch has really screwed up with the sounds. I sit in a corner with my surrond headset and try to hear the enemy and then a enemy walks right past me without ninja on and i dont hear one footstep. i dont understand it at all.

Treyarch did a patch that was added today. The problems with Black Ops audio are fixed. http://www.callofduty.com/board/viewtopic.php?f=73&t=313362&sid=8u2sh4taa1h4mjo850fa8s3b50
Get Trittons instead, Turtle Beaches are ridiculously unreliable in my experience. sixgears2
I dunno man...between me and my brother, we have five Turtlebeach headsets--and prior to these we had others. Never had a single problem with any of these. On the other hand, I have Tritton Axpros and have had them replaced twice. Plus the sound quality is only average at compared to Turtlebeach's. My brother got Trittons before we got the Px21 and both models of Trittons he got were defective. Bad buzzing in the speakers, the mic would cut out, etc etc. When we got the Px21, it worked fine--just like the other Turtlebeach's we've had.

I want to get a turtle beach which one should i get px21 or x11?

lilfox335

I own the Px21 and my brother has the X11. We absolutely love these headsets. They've got identical sound quality, except that the Ps21 has more features and audio adjustments. The Px21 is also compatible with the Ps3 as well. You will be fine with either of them, so the decision should come down to whether you want all the bells & whistles that the Px21 has or if you just want a basic rock-solid headset like the X11. Obviously the X11 will cost you less as well--I got mine for $45 on Amazon.

Considering that between me and my brother, we own headsets from both companies, so I can probably tell you a lot more accurately than other people else around here what's better.

First off, do you want to spend the money to get surround sound or is stereo good enough for your needs? You should figure that out before shopping for headsets because there are a number to choose from, depending on your budget. If you only have $100 though, you won't have enough to get surround sound--though you do have options to add it later if you want.

In my experience, Tritton has the worst sound quality and their headsets are not as durable as Turtlebeach. From what I've seen, most people who think Trittons are the best have never even tried Astro's or Turtlebeach's. However, the fact of the matter is that the Ax180 ($60) and Ax720 ($130) have a serious lack of bass, so these sound very uneven. The Ax180 is made a LOT cheaper and the highs/mids are tinny and harsh. Definitely not a good sound at all. The Axpro ($170) sounds better than the other two, but you can't crank up the volume because the miniature speakers that are crammed into the earcup don't hold bass very well. In bass-heavy games like Halo or especially Gears of War, the Axpro gets very distorted and you have to turn the volume down. We've also had FOUR defective Trittons right out of the box. I still have an Axpro, but it hasn't been used in about a year. Very poor compared to Turtlebeach.

Personally, I own the Turtlebeach Px21 ($70) and X41 ($170), but I use an X41 about 90% of the time. My brother has an X11 ($45) and X31 ($80) and he is pretty much 50-50 on which one he uses. (They're both the same, except the X31 is wireless and the X11 is wired). The main reason why I like the X41 is because I mostly play in our game room where I sit back quite a bit due to the sofa being about 15 feet away from our 55" LCD. I also have an Xbox and PS3 in my room, but my parents room is right next door and they get pissy at me when I talk to others online. The Px21 is compatible with my Ps3, which is why I have it in my room connected to both consoles. Anyhow, one thing that you really have to note about Turtlebeach is that pretty much all of their headsets have extra features built in, whereas Tritton doesn't have any extra features at all. For example, my X41 has a mic monitor, auto chat-leveler, bass enhancer, etc. If you're on a tighter budget and don't wanna spend all the money on a surround sound headset or don't need wireless, then the X11 ($45) and PX21 have similar features. You can also get either of these and add a DSS ($75) surround sound dongle to them. BTw, Turtlebeach calls these the Dx11 ($120) and Dpx21 ($140).

So basically, if you compare what you get in a Turtebeach vs what you get in a Tritton, the value is much better with the Turtlebeach's. Throw in the fact that they have really good sound quality and it makes even more sense. Most importantly for you though, you can stick with a reliable X11 for about $45 bucks and save up a bit so you can get the DSS to add surround sound to it later on. Of course, if you just shop around enough, you can probably find the X11 and DSS for around $110-$115 and just get them both right off the bat. This is pretty close:

As an owner of Astro, Tritton and Turtle Beach headsets, I can answer this better for you as opposed to just saying "this is what I got".

The Turtle Beach DPX21 is the best PS3 headset on the market. It has better sound quality than Tritton and Astro's equivalents and more features too. Plus, it's very affordable too.

YOUTUBE VID: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=TPmQrNUy4tM

Tritton's Axpro uses an old 1990's surround sound, whereas their Ax720, Astro's Mixamp and all Turtle Beach surround headsets use Dolby Headphone--which is a much newer technology and provides more realistic positioning. Aside from that, the Axpro's under-sized speakers cause the audio to get distorted at high volumes or games with a lot of bass. Tritton's Ax720 has virtually NO bass at all--so the overall sound is very unbalanced. This is also the knock against Astro as well. Their A40 has no bass--even worse than the Ax720. The A30 has more bass, but the highs are lacking. It's definitely not as crisp as some of the others out there.

As for the DPX21's features, it's got a mic monitor, chat auto-leveler and adjustable bass boost. The sound quality is more "even" in the DPX21, meaning that there is adequate bass to go along with the highs and mids. For whatever reason, neither Tritton nor Astro can seem to get well-balanced audio.

Quality-wise, Tritton is definitely the worst. Personally, I went through three Axpro's before I got one that worked either out of the box or a month into its use. Though Tritton was quick to replace them, it seemed as if this was a result of them being used to problems with a speaker cutting out, the mic buzzing, or the headband joints cracking from normal use. Astro and Turtle Beach have much better durability.

And lastly, take a look at the price. Astro's will cost a minimum of $270 (they don't include the optical cable with the headset), Trittons will either be $160 or $130 and the DPX21 is $140. Much better bang for the buck on Turtle Beach's side.

Hope this helps!

Totally agree with that. The X11 is extremely comfortable and the sound quality is excellent.

I have the X11 and X41 from Turtlebeach. They've got absolutely sick sound quality and they're really comfy too--even after several hours of MW2.

Turtlebeaches are a definite!

My brother has X11's and I can highly recommend them to you. (I have the X41 btw). What I noticed about the X11 is that it is extremely comfortable and the sound quality is pretty sick. You will literally be able to hear everything from footsteps to weapon reloads to bomb plants. The cable is a little long on it, but Turtlebeach includes a velcro strap so that you can neaten it up a bit.

And yes, you can hear the game sounds in the headset--either with the TV or without the TV. If its late at night and you dont wanna piss anyone off, just turn down your TV volume altogether. The game will still be in the headset no matter what.

Personally, I would not pay extra for a warranty. Those are all ripoffs. Turtlebeach has a 1 YEAR WARRANTY themselves! Why would you want to spend more when the manufacturer provides their own.

Hi guys I hope Ican get some great advice.

I am intrested in picking up a pair of turtle beach px21s

But i'm not a mutiplayer gamer, I love single player games, God of war, dead space, just got f1 2010 and dead rising 2.

I will never go online to play mutiplayer and am wondering if the turtle beach PX21 is good for single player games????

many thanks for your advice

thanks guys lee :)

I own the PX21 which I use on my PS3 (MW2) and PC (SC2). For your needs, the PX21 will definitly serve you well. The sound quality is excellent and the headset itself will help quite a bit in decreasing loud game sounds around your residence so you don't bother family members or neighbors.

My girlfriend and I are playing a ton of split-screen Reach on XBL, we both have the old M$ headsets and want to upgrade to Turtle Beach.

I just would like to know if I can use TWO Turtle Beach XLC headsets on one Xbox360

Canuck3k

I have tried the XLC--and though they are excellent for the money, your setup would require an amplified headset like the X11 or PX21. These are self-powered headsets and do not rely on external power like the XLC does. You have to hook up the XLC using a headphone audio output on your TV or home theater system. To connect two headsets to this would require a 2-to-1 adapter. Still though, it's not the ideal setup. I would recommend that you take a look at the X11 or PX21 first and foremost. Much better options for you.
