22. Bought my ds 2 years ago and a ds lite 1 year ago.

It all started with the arcades, I believe about 15 years ago. I started playing games like Mortal Kombat and Street Fighter. While i knew it was forbidden for my age I, at that time, had no idea why it was forbidden! :P. It wasn't making sense to me that it was "violent"! :P Later I got seriously excited with games like Dune and Red Alert and eventually my parents bought me a computer. Strategy games had become my favorite genre and my computer lasted about 4 years. Come to think of it, I find it truly hillarious that the reason I was pushed to the console side was because I just got sick with the PC games becoming more and more demanding.I also find it kinda unbelievable how a mere phrase from a friend ended up persuading me to buy a Gamecube rather than a Playstation 2. That was how I was introduced to the world of Nintendo. Yeah I know, out of topic, but I was moved by Ston3henge's story. And no, games are not for "people without lives". Every hobby taken to the extreme can lead you to "lose your life".

@Mad_Dude: Why didn't you make this thread into a poll?

If only they would continue making RPG's instead of those cheesy sports games; I would be one of their blind followers.

Don't know what the hell are you talking about. Camelot hasn't released a game for 2 whole years. So no. They don't keep making sports games. They made sports games just like they made Golden Sun. As for all these Mario Baseball, Basketball and etc. they are not being made by Camelot. In any case, the first Golden Sun was good, but I was disappointed by the second one which was just more of the same and made no true improvement to the game. It didn't squash any of the problems that the original had (lack of a dungeon map, a lot of walking around the overworld, innumerable random encounters, cheesy dialogue [the infamous yes or no situations comes to mind], a lot of messing around with the djinns to find a good class combination, etc.) So if we ever see a second sequel for Golden Sun, I would definitely like for those problems to be squashed. Otherwise, it will be disappointing. But, who knows, maybe they are taking their sweet time to make sure thay deliver us an amazing experience. Maybe, I said.

Yes, it does. Try it in games like Astro Boy, Castlevania: Aria of Sorrow and Harmony of Dissonance, Golden Sun and Gunstar Future Heroes. It looks great!

It depends on the game. I have a Phat, and I think it only works in games that were programmed to do it. If the Lite does it in ALL the games (I don't know) then maybe they had switched this program line to the DS itself.julianozuca

Nope. For instance, you can't soft reset in Animal Crossing and Final Fantasy III regardless of whether you have an original DS or a Lite. It's game-related.

Being smaller than the original DS' d-pad, it does demand more pressure on its edges. As a result, it's a bit uncomfortable and more difficult to input precise diagonal directions (Animal Crossing and Metroid Prime comes to mind). Then again, not too many games demand you to input precise diagonal directions, so it's not too big of a deal.

I bought the original DS at the European Launch Date (11 March 2005). Then, one year later and after getting seriously frustrated by Mario Kart DS, I almost snapped it in half. The hinges broke and the DS was playable only thanks to the magic of the good old tape. Still, I had to keep the upper screen lifted with my index finger which was annoying. Thus, one year and four months later after I bought the original, I bought a DS Lite. (without trading the original)

Rebuying a DS? Not the wisest choice. Stick to what you have. And the answer "DS pwns PSP in gameplay" just won't cut it. Every console, not just DS, has and will have at least a couple of great games. DS has Mario Kart and will have Zelda, PSP has Metal Gear and will have God of War, Wii has Paper Mario and will have Smash Bros, XBox360 has Gears of War and will have Halo 3, PS3 has Warhawk and will have Heavenly Sword. Besides, rebuying a DS is costly and you just said that you don't have a lot of money. So, stick to your PSP and buy expensive games only when they have tons of things to do and can last a long time (Like the Grand Theft Auto games) or try locating dead cheap games for about 10 Euro (I recall seeing Loco Roco and Lemmings at that price) Yes, personally I think that PSP sucks at games and DS is the mighty winner but, then again, that would only be because I do prefer the DS games. Nothing more than personal bias. Nothing more. (Though I do get somewhat envious of Castlevania: Dracula X Chronicles)

Nice one, pal. I just hope you won't regret it. :)

why would you want to put a skin on your ds, it like defacing perfection :)allegrettom

Maybe applying the DS Skin would make it more perfect for him.
