@loafofgame @GrahamZ I think you are right about a lot of this. I tend to not like electronic music that much -- I mean there's some that's ok, but mostly I prefer real instruments. And when I was mentioning Fallout 3, I was mostly referring to the radio station music, the actual old-timey songs. Even though they are kind of before my time, and they could become just as repetitive (because of the limitations of having a fixed menu to choose from), but It was something I could listen to (until I couldn't lol). There were some cool mods that added to the soundtracks, and I liked some of those. Although I have to admit that Bethesda's choices tended to be a bit better. They did add variety.

In other words, I'd rather listen to a song,of fixed length that fits the mood or setting, than something that seems to go on and on. And I'd rather hear actual instruments, even human voices, and so on.

Btw, while I don't have any real musical talent other than a good ear (or so I've been told), I do come from a musical family. My mom was a professional singer, guitarist and dancer, and has tought voice, folk guitar and dance, has performed in nightclubs and Carnegie Hall, competed in ballroom dancing competitions (only time I remember seeing her compete, she won), regularly played lead roles in community theater, and sang opera on the radio (when she was a teenager). I grew up listening to a wide variety of music, everything from classical to opera to folk to show music. I don't have the same taste in music as she does, but it certainly has influenced my preferences.

@RPG_Fan_I_Am @GrahamZ I've never owned a console other than an off-brand Pong (and my dad really was the only one who liked it). Did have an Intellivision at our coffee house in college that I dabbled with but I really never liked arcadish games.

Am I the only one who actually DOES NOT love Video game music then? There are only a few exceptions, but in general, I find it incredibly inane and repetitive. I nearly always have to turn the sound or music off in games and use my only tunes to entertain myself in games. Some notable exceptions are games like Civ 5, Skyrim, and Fallout 3. Then again, I'm an older gamer with different musical tastes.

@ropumar The numbers only tell you how much someone ELSE liked the game, not how much you will like it. Raging over someone else not liking a game is pretty stupid. It's the content of the review itself which is much more important -- how buggy is the game, does the gameplay represent something that you personally enjoy, and so on. I don't like every game that gets a 9+ rating, nor do I hate every game that is rated below 9.

The rating system is screwed up anyway. Thumbs up or down would be better because that would mean that people would have to actually read the review itself to find out about the game.

Feminism is not a unified belief system. Two people who call themselves feminists don't necessarily hold the same exact opinions. That's what a belief is -- it's an opinion. If I believe that women ought to be treated fairly in the workplace, that's my opinion. If I believe that women ought to be portrayed realistically or fairly in a video game, that's not a fact, that's an OPINION. That happens to be the reviewer's opinion. I don't know what her OPINION is regarding whether a man ought to open up a door for a woman on a date. I don't know what her opinion is on whether women are being treated fairly in the workplace But I can say what her opinion is regarding women in video games, and as that affects her opinion on the game, it was not only correct for her to state it in her review, but it would have been negligent for it to have been omitted, as her job is to state her OPINION.

I know that you probably don't 'get it'. But trust me, feminism is not a fact, it's not a political party, it's an OPINION. And it was her obligation to state her opinion on the game, whether or not it's colored by other opinions.

@timoteo2k1 @GrahamZ

There is no feminist political party. There is no group called 'the feminists'. So get your facts straight.

@timoteo2k1 @StarsiderSajun Reviewers only write from their point of view. If you don't want to read something from her point of view, find a different reviewer. It's fair to criticize a review, and you make some good points. And if that's all that people said in their response, then there wouldn't be such a ruckus here.

@timoteo2k1 She's paid to give her opinion, which she did. And people are attacking her for doing her job. It's not politics, but her opinion. That's it. Calling it political does not make it so. IF she said that the game was not pro Obama enough or pro Boehner enough, or if she expressed an opinion that a specific law ought to be voted for or against, then that would be political. It was not political except within your mind. It was her opinion. The only justifiable way to object to an opinion is to give your opposing opinion, and NOT to actually attack her, insult her, threaten her or in any way be hostile. She's not running for public office, she wrote a review, which is exactly what she was supposed to do.

If you want a 'review' that does not include an opinion, you don't actually want a review at all, so stop reading them and just read the advertising.

@AggrandizedUser It has nothing to do with owing anything to the gaming medium and everything to do with having the common decency to treat your fellow human being as having the right to have and state their opinion without fear of personal attacks. People have gone to jail over less, when it happens in public.

No one is saying that you can't share your opinion. But when you start calling for people to be fired for having an opinion different than you, or when you start using nasty name calling, then you've gone over the line.

@SurfaceNerd No such thing. Reviews are biased by definition. Reviewers are paid to give opinions. If all you were doing was giving a game description, you'd simply photocopy the back of the box and post it. That's not a review, that's a description
