Still Looking For PS3 Owners!

Alright, I am REALLY on the lookout for any PS3 owners on Gamespot. Just because I bought LBP to play and RE5 again and started back from square one and might be looking for people to play with on the PSN. Also, here's some games I'm gonna be probably getting in the near future:

-Borderlands

-Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 2

-Resistance 2

-White Knight Chronicles

-Demon's Souls

Anyone who owns RE5 or LBP, or might be getting Borderlands or COD: MW2, feel free to list your PSN Usernames here.

Well, This Is Interesting...200+ Games in 10 years...

I did an account of all the games I played and owned. The current tally was around 210 games at least. Heh, All I can promise is is that a few of the really rare RPGs for the PS1 I do own, all my PS3 games, a select few PS2 games...and ALL my DS and GBA games I own...>_> Still...its nothing compared to what others might have done.

I have played:

-PS1, PS2, PS3, PSP, DS/DSLite/DSi, 360, Wii, GBA, SNES, NES, Sega Genesis

I own:

PS3 with PS1 and PS2 playability, DS Lite

Wants: 360, PSP

Where are the JRPGs???

White Knight Chronicles, Cry On, Final Fantasy 13, Final Fantasy Versus 13...x_x These were the gems of next-gen JRPGs I was waiting on. But Cry On got cancelled by Hironobu Sakaguchi a few months ago during the sudden recession. White Knight Chronicles is due for February; FF13 in June, and Versus 13 is still off the radar. I'd love for Persona 5 to release late 2010, early 2011 (P3 released Summer 2007 in the US, and then P4 released Winter 2008. Which means there's a chance that P5 will be out in a few months) onto the PS3. With 50 GBs of space per Blu-Ray disc, it could be a bigger, much more beautiful experience. I have a DS, but it has been lacking in substantial RPGs. Aside from Nostalgia andKingdom Hearts 358/2 Days, Dragon Quest 6 and 9 are due out in 2010. PSP, on the other hand, does have some nice looking RPGs...so I'm debating whether I want to go from a DSi to a PSP...

2009 Is Sure Gonna Be a Dry Year...Or Is It?

Basically, with the tragic loss of Heavy Rain, Bioshock 2, and Mass Effect 2 to 2010, 2009 is beginning to lose some major gaming powerhouses. But then, it does give the underdogs an opportunity to shine. Here's a few of note:

-Borderlands

-Brutal Legend

-Darksiders: Wrath of War

-Demon's Souls

-Fallout 3: Game of the Year

-Katamari Forever

And here's some heavy players.

-Alpha Protocol

-Assassin's Creed 2

-Batman: Arkham Asylum

-Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 2

-Dragon Age: Origins

-Marvel: Ultimate Alliance 2

-Ninja Gaiden Sigma 2

-Ratchet & Clank: A Crack in Time

-Tekken 6

-Uncharted 2: Among Thieves

-Wolfenstein

This ought to be the bulk of the lineup for 2009 between now and the end of it. I'm sure everyone's got a couple they're looking forward to. What might be fun is anything crazy that these people might do in order to afford them. So feel free to comment with what you're looking forward to and a potentially crazy way to go about affording them. Doesn't have to be something realistic or something you would do at all.

I Really Want a PSP Now...!

Okay, here's a few reasons why I am tempted to get a PSP now:

-Lunar: Harmony of Silver Star. Somehow, XSeed got ahold of the original game and ported it to PSP for a November release with extra content.

-Dissidia: Final Fantasy. RPG Fighter. Easily Ehrgeiz but with tons of FF heroes and villains, intuitive combat system that mixes RPG progression with a fighter-based battle system.

-Shin Megami Tensei: Persona. The original. I'm a big fan of Persona 3 and 4. Although there is a chance the second one may be ported depending on the success of this one, I am tempted. VERY tempted. Another PS1 rpg with extra stuff.

-Star Ocean: Second Evolution. I loved the second game from the PS1. And again, its a PS1 rpg with extra content.

-Final Fantasy Tactics: War of the Lions...obvious.

-Valkyrie Profile: Lenneth...also obvious.

-Crisis Core: Final Fantasy VII...again obvious.

-FF7...already bought it for my PS3 via download. Might as well play it on the go.

-Popolocrois. Very cheap and kiddish RPG. But its entertaining.

-Little Big Planet. I love the PS3 version, and the fact there's a PSP version due out...I wonder just what can be done between them.

-Wild Arms XF...very addictive rpg. Hard in some instances.

It's taken the system over 3 and a halfyears to be figured out and now several of the titles on the list only prove the fact that PS1 remakes thrive on the PSP. Whats next? Xenogears? Lunar 2? Will Suikoden 1 and 2 potentially see a stateside release after 3 years??? You never know.

Finally Got PSN DLC Figured Out...

I couldn't believe I forgot this. When I got Fallout 3 for the PS3 and connected to the PSN with it, I had discovered that it kept prompting me with an update, version "1....duh duh duh". I kept thinking of it as a system update instead of a game update, so I kept putting it off. When I started to have some bug issues with the game, I caved and downloaded it. Didn't have problems since then. I then got Little Big Planet a month ago and gave it a shot. When I came into some spending cash, I splurged on some nifty DLC for the game. But the only bit of data that came up was the Kratos skin. This obviously pissed me off since I spent 20 bucks worth of currency on content that I couldn't get to work. I messed with it for a week. Connected to the PSN a couple of times, and again I get met with "Update Version 1....whatever." Kept putting it off. Soon, I caved and downloaded that update. Now, the content's working in full swing! One fundamental aspect of my life is I learn through trial and error. I'm sure we all have had that experience in our life. Least now I know what I need to do with my PS3 when I download something...

PSN Usernames?

I already got a few friends on Gamespot. Hopefully a good portion of them have PSN usernames. Mind telling me what they are? I'll certainly offer mine for whomever asks.

Quick Reviews All Around!

I threw out a bunch of DS, PS1, and PS2 quick reviews on my end. Just to follow up on all the stuff I played in the past. So if anyone looks at my reviewing history, don't be surprised. I got bored, took a looksee at what I had played, and decided to mess around with the review system for a bit. Might attempt more elaborate ones if I feel like it in the near future.

PS One Classics That Deserve a PSN Release...!

Obviously, the title of the blog tells it all. But I feel that Sony now has a chance to go further with the PSN if they release more PS One Classics on it.

For the most part, RPGs would make the system thrive. Whereas a game on eBay or Amazon could cost anywhere from 20-50 dollars, the PSN could release it for as much as 9.99. FF7 (which is about 1.3 GBs of data) is a three-disc compilation. Fortunately, Sony has implemented a menu feature that allows for the digital 'switching' of game discs by hitting the PS button on your controller and then change the disc setting there. Wild Arms 2, the fourth known RPG release on the US PSN (Wild Arms was surprisingly the first, with Suikoden following second and then FF7 third) also uses this feature. Here's some well known RPGs that deserve a US release on the PSN:

-Xenogears (available in Japan due to its PAL region restriction in Europe, but has yet to see a US release. Still, this game is a genuine RPG classic)

-Suikoden 2 (a game that fetches around 100 dollars and has its prequel available on the PSN? It deserves a release as well!)

-Revelations: Persona (part of the Shin Megami Tensei/Megaten series; Atlus already has a PSP port of this in the works, but for PS3 owners deprived of a PSP, why not allow them a chance to play the game in its original format?)

-Lunar: Silver Star Story and Lunar 2: Eternal Blue (Working Designs closed up shop just after the release of the Growlanser series on the PS2, so seeing Lunar 3 is an impossibility. The odds of seeing these two potential gems on the PSN are very slim since there's no company to turn the games over...)

-Final Fantasy (VIII/IX/Chronicles/Anthology/Tactics) (VII hit 100,000 downloads in the first couple of weeks. With how common the games in this listing are...the only way they would be worth purchasing is if, with the exception of Tactics, the others could be marketed for the price point of 5.99)

-Grandia (the game series was produced by Game Arts and soon picked up from Ubisoft by Square Enix with the release of the third title. Still, the first one established itself as an underground RPG classic)

Of course, this is just me since I'm hugely into RPGs. Anyone have other games to offer?
