Obviously, the title of the blog tells it all. But I feel that Sony now has a chance to go further with the PSN if they release more PS One Classics on it.
For the most part, RPGs would make the system thrive. Whereas a game on eBay or Amazon could cost anywhere from 20-50 dollars, the PSN could release it for as much as 9.99. FF7 (which is about 1.3 GBs of data) is a three-disc compilation. Fortunately, Sony has implemented a menu feature that allows for the digital 'switching' of game discs by hitting the PS button on your controller and then change the disc setting there. Wild Arms 2, the fourth known RPG release on the US PSN (Wild Arms was surprisingly the first, with Suikoden following second and then FF7 third) also uses this feature. Here's some well known RPGs that deserve a US release on the PSN:
-Xenogears (available in Japan due to its PAL region restriction in Europe, but has yet to see a US release. Still, this game is a genuine RPG classic)
-Suikoden 2 (a game that fetches around 100 dollars and has its prequel available on the PSN? It deserves a release as well!)
-Revelations: Persona (part of the Shin Megami Tensei/Megaten series; Atlus already has a PSP port of this in the works, but for PS3 owners deprived of a PSP, why not allow them a chance to play the game in its original format?)
-Lunar: Silver Star Story and Lunar 2: Eternal Blue (Working Designs closed up shop just after the release of the Growlanser series on the PS2, so seeing Lunar 3 is an impossibility. The odds of seeing these two potential gems on the PSN are very slim since there's no company to turn the games over...)
-Final Fantasy (VIII/IX/Chronicles/Anthology/Tactics) (VII hit 100,000 downloads in the first couple of weeks. With how common the games in this listing are...the only way they would be worth purchasing is if, with the exception of Tactics, the others could be marketed for the price point of 5.99)
-Grandia (the game series was produced by Game Arts and soon picked up from Ubisoft by Square Enix with the release of the third title. Still, the first one established itself as an underground RPG classic)
Of course, this is just me since I'm hugely into RPGs. Anyone have other games to offer?
