Is it OK for those of us who live in America to comment on what we think about our country?

I've lived in the US my whole life and never traveled outside it, but I've had friends from all over the world such as Sweden, Mexico, UK, and Canada so I've got a pretty good grasp of what life outside the US is like. I can agree with the stereotype about Americans being ignorant about how things really are in their own country and foreign countries, but not all Americans are bad people. Some of us really are friendly and don't care where you're from or what religion you follow just as long as you are polite and respectful to us, even the ones who are fanatically patriotic about their government. Some good things about our country is that we do have a great source of entertainment and a stable government, despite the fact that we do indeed have a high crime rate (but that mostly applies to big cities like New York and Los Angeles). We also do have a weight problem due to the foods we eat, but I think people over exaggerate it a lot. I've seen some Europeans who look just like us fat Americans but speak with a different accent so I don't think they should be ones to talk.

but regardless i have to say, this is a silly question.

Lucianu

Yeah, I actually have a habit of asking those a lot just for the sake of starting a discussion. :P I already know it's OK that I prefer it more as my personal opinion, I guess I was just curious about what other people thought of it. Maybe I should have worded this topic a little differently...

Before I begin this I just want to state that I know I've talked bad about Bethesda games before, but the truth is I don't really hate their games other than the fact that they have a lot of glitches and bugs. I do think they are fun games when you can get past those problems.

Anyways I think Fallout 3 is my favorite of their games. Yet a lot of people prefer Fallout New Vegas because they feel it was closer to the original games before Bethesda purchased the rights to the series from Interplay. Apparently the original developers who did the first and second games were the ones who worked on New Vegas.

Yet for some reason I just don't like their version of the Fallout Universe even though it's the truer version. I think Bethesda made the world more interesting with Fallout 3, it felt more like a true apocalyptic setting and I felt myself being immersed in the pre-war 1950's culture.

Do you guys think it's a bad thing to prefer Fallout 3 over the other games because of the fact that it was made by a different developer?

[QUOTE="-DirtySanchez-"]nope tho when i used to smoke i would sometimes turn the 7th cigarette in the pack upside down and whenever i would smoke it some girl from my past would call me out of the blue that i hadnt heard from in awhile, never ended well tho so i guess it wasnt a good luck charm afterallTheHighWind

You used to flip a lucky smoke? Ha! It's been a while since I heard of someone doing that. I met a guy who flipped two, one for his dead brother and father.

This is the first time I've ever heard of that. :P

I prefer playing online in my bedroom, usually at night before I got to bed because I don't have any work to worry about and can just relax. My favorite position is laying down on my bed while I play.

Yeah... seeing how cigarettes give people lung cancer I wouldn't say they're very lucky.

For those of you who believe in luck, do you own a personal object that you consider lucky? Tell us the story behind that object.

I actually have a perfectly heart-shaped rock I found about a year ago. The shape is too smooth for it to be a naturally-made rock but I found it buried in my backyard and our house is fairly old (it was built around the 1940's I think), so I think it must have belonged to whoever lived here before us.

Ever since I found that rock it seems like whenever I hold it or carry it with me it makes all my problems go away. I was going through a really rough time before I found it and even attempted suicide at one point, but when I found this rock it was like the Universe was giving me a sign not to give up no matter how bad life gets and it really seems like my life has been steadily getting better since I found it. That is why I carry it with me everywhere now.

Like somebody already said, it's basically elitism. People like to feel special by enjoying things nobody else really cares about and if something is widely liked by the common folk they label it as automatically having bad quality. It's the same reason rich people eat crappy-tasting expensive meals and spend a lot of money on impractical modern furniture for their uninviting penthouse apartments.

Awesome, that's good to know. :)

I've never downloaded games before but I downloaded a couple of DLC for the 360 back when I had it. I'm glad PSN works almost the same way. I probably won't be able to buy everything I want with $50 but I can at least get the stuff I want the most, and it'll give me more stuff to do with my games once I beat them.
