Top 5 most anticipated games right now

5:

I have a lot of attachment to the Resistance series. Had a lot of great laughs with it playing through R1 with my close friend in co-op. It was old-school: Fire from the hip only, whereas most games now require that you aim with L1 (or L2 if the developer's stupid), it had a weapon wheel, something very rare these days, and it had offline competitive MP and local campaign co-op. So with R3 bringing all of those back (except for the aiming, which seems like L1 will be a big thing. I hope the firing from the hip is incredibly accurate though, so I don't need it), I'm definitely pumped for it.

Recently, I bought Uncharted 1 (after already playing through U2) and I love it. It grew on me, and it was great to know such a fantastic franchise all that better and how it was conceived. Folks at Naughty Dog definitely have an exquisite talent for adding cinematography and character realism to the game. I wish it had MP though. On the other hand, MP on U3 will be even deeper, so I'm looking forward to that.

What can I say? I love CoD. I do really hope that fake release date is the real release date. MW3 will certainly be so much deeper, focused, and even more balanced than Black Ops, with a certainly great campaign also, continuing Soap and Price's intriguing story. I hope they learned to listen to the community with Treyarch, and keep the Theater mode and add even more customization and personalization options. And guns. Add custom iron sights! Those'd be awesome! And a 3-round burst or full-auto (or semi-auto) version of ALL AR's. Why not? :) I hope I'm not getting sidetracked. Anyway, love Call of Duty, it's simple, it's straightforward, it's realistic, it's engaging, and most of all, it's super fun.

Yep, SF x T, not T x SF. Grew up with both Tekken and Street Fighter, and boy, have I always wanted to see Tekken characters clash with some other fighting game's characters. My usual dream used to be Virtua Fighter vs Tekken, but now I realize how much better Street Fighter will fit. And its kind of gameplay (even though I prefer Tekken, go figure) appeals more to me. Straight up, 2D fun, with beautiful, cartoony art, great variety of characters and NO JUGGLING. What I don't really like about Street Fighter are the projectiles and lack of moves for each character. They seem to not have a big variety of hand-to-hand moves. But just the amount of moves I saw Kazuya do at the gameplay trailer from Gamescom put me at ease. Yoshinoro (or nori, I dunno) Ono seems to be taking care of Tekken fans, by adding all our favorite moves to our favorite characters. Totally pumped for this one.

And finally... Number 1 is...!

Da Elder Scrolls 5: Skyrim. CANT WAIT to see how they're going to expand upon Oblivion's MASSIVE foundation, a true, old-school RPG with old-fashioned camping, travelling, city-visiting, talking, leveling up and journeying through fantasy landscapes, only with a touch of new-school mechanics like the amazing idea of first person combat, which makes it all the more immersive and fun to see*. And what's best! My biggest gripe with Oblivion was with its godawful engine, which is totally gone! No more visual glitches, no more bland textures, no more AI bugs, no more AWFUL physics that don't make any sense, and brand, completely new proprietary engine from Bethesda. Been at work in this for... About 3 and a half years now. Can't be bad. CANNOT. BE. BAD! UGH. So excited!

And I'm actually pretty glad I didn't get any comments on my last blog. It was stupid, and like I stressed many times, totally worthless.

*See Dark Messiah. Great game, only because of its FPS combat with melee weapons. And because of its awesome physics, which Skyrim will have! YAY!!!!

If I'm already anticipating next year's CoD, am I a lost cause?

People keep telling me how CoD is a shame in the gaming world (which I laugh at) and how I'm stupid for buying the same rehashed game every year.

This question is absolutely and utterly pointless and there is no point in answering it unless you're really bored or just plain want to humilate me, but if I like what they come up with each year (and I promise myself next year's will be my last CoD), am I a lost cause and am doomed to live the rest of my life shoving money up Bobby's butthole?

You know what I hate? (24/12/10)

People who say multiplayer ruins games. I have YET to see a game be ruined by its multiplayer component, or have its campaign hurt by it. Look at Uncharted 2: When MP was announced, people freaked out so much, saying they should focus on the SP and that it was totally unnecessary and that it would ruin the campaign or whatever. And we've all seen where that argument went.

And Assassin's Creed Brotherhood. I remember seeing the IGN Daily Fix where they mentioned the next AC would surely have a deep MP component, and there were so... Many... People... Commenting on how it would ruin the franchise and the SP would be terrible because of it, and that AC has no place for MP. Well, we've all seen where that went as well.

The only argument I heard in this situation's favor was BioShock 2's multiplayer making the SP suffer, but since I didn't play either BioShock game, I can't throw my opinion into it. But we'll never know if it's true. BioShock 2 was developed by a different team and a different writer wrote the story. So I can't say for sure if its campaign would have been better had it been developed by the same guys who did BioShock 1. And it's worth mentioning the MP in BioShock 2 is actually very deep. The MP lobby is a little room with a wardrobe where you dress your character and everything, which is something I think every MP game should have. It's a level of interactivity with the MP component which you rarely see, and it makes it feel like it's another world you're immersed in, not the menu-heavy type of MP we see in Call of Duty, Resistance and Halo.

I'm glad I mentioned Call of Duty, actually. Was CoD4's campaign any bad? ANY disappointing? ANY cheap/unbalanced/badly-paced? No. It wasn't. Yet we saw it introduce a revolutionary MP concept at the time: Progression. Which was later adopted by pretty much every military shooter. An incredibly deep and balanced MP component made CoD4 a complete package with great single AND multiplayer.

Now there's this following of the media of this ridiculous, blatant and biased thinking of the community that MP makes games worse, or fail or whatever. Like IGN. They actually said Mass Effect 3 WILL FAIL if it introduces any kind of MP. What the hell? Just because the first two games were great, doesn't mean they were great because they were SP only, it was because an incredibly dedicated team sought out to make an experience that would immerse players in its world. ME3 wouldn't be a stranger to MP; it already is part shooter. And neither is the RPG genre: We all saw how well MP was integrated in Demon's Souls, and that didn't diminish the singleplayer experience at all, even though the game was fully featured an integrated as an online game.

Anyway, that's all for this rant. I'm sure you guys will find incompetent studios that didn't know how to distribute their work time well and ended up making a mediocre SP in favor of adding a MP component, but that still doesn't prove how MP makes originally singleplayer games broken. I'm totally pumped for Arkham City's MP component and I hope Skyrim integrates it as well, that would be awesome.

P.S.: MP in Dante's Inferno also worked well, a game was a lot like God of War. And everybody says how GoW NEEDS to stat singleplayer. Ugh...

Top 5 Favorite Franchises

Note: This isn't a list of the franchises that contain the single best games. That's why it doesn't have Red Dead. Don't get me wrong, Red Dead Redemption is the best game I've played, but Red Dead Revolver wasn't that great. It was ok. So in general, the Red Dead franchise isn't quite there. The ones below are.

1: Monster Hunter

2: Resistance

3: Dota (It started being a franchise as soon as Dota 2 was announced!)

4: Elder Scrolls

5: Call of Duty

A game I'm also really loving is Batman: Arkham Asylum. I just can't get enough of the combat in that game. Also playing through Uncharted 1, which I hadn't, dunno why. And also, Resistance 2. Again. God, my trophy list is pretty full. I hate it when it gets too full :( that's why I create so many accounts.

You know what I hate? 29/11/10

People who generalize their opinion. Like that guy called Anthony Burch, from destructoid. I'll give it to him that he is a very intelligent guy, maybe even more than me,who has some clever ideas about gaming and art in general, but he's so self absorbed (is it absorBed or absorVed? I've never known). Like when he says Assassin's Creed is a game no one liked, and Far Cry 2 wasn't played by anybody. Ugh, that's so wrong, on so many levels. You know what's a game that no one liked? Rogue Warrior.

Now a fine example of someone who doesn't do that is the Angry Video Game Nerd. Man, I love that guy. He's such a nice person, and doesn't feel the need to incorporate those stupid puns and witty comparisons and jokes on his videos, yet everyone seems to think he's funny. Even my brother, who's a serious guy who thinks he's a total imbecile and a dork, can't help but laugh at his videos.

I put the date in the title (in the brazilian format, which is what makes sense) because I'll probably make more of these rants, and I want to know the date right away and make the titles different from each other.

PS3 is now officially broken :(

Yep. Like I said in some forum posts, the finger sensor (or whatever that thing you need to touch to turn it on is) doesn't work. It used to marginally work. When, for some reason, I had to turn the PS3 off at the source (or if the power went out), I had to turn it on through the sensor by rubbing my finger against it for about 10 minutes until if finally worked, when I would normally just turn it on through the controller. But this time, seems like it really died. And I have no time to fix it before I go on my trip to the US (was planning on exchanging it for a Slim there), so I'm pretty much screwed. If any of you has seen or knows how to fix this problem, please tell me.

Brink needs more attention.

Is it only me who thinks this game looks incredibly awesome? The objective-based gameplay, the fantastic graphics, the ENDLESS (literally) options of customization, the 20+ weapons, it's like Modern Warfare + Balancing + Mirror's Edge + Customization. It's AWESOME! Just look at this video.

My only worry is its campaign, it might have a lot of potential, but due to their focus on MP, I'm concerned it might turn out kind of tacked-on (yes, the SP will be tacked on because the MP will be so amazing). Also, they're not planning on doing any setpieces for the SP. It's going to be like an MP match after the other.

Starting to reconsider my Black Ops purchase...

I already have MW2. Read some reviews and a lot of them mention how it's MW2.5. And with the recent announcement that a new CoD is coming around next year (90% chance of it being MW3), I might just skip Treyarch's title. While the new additions like the theatre mode and somewhat enhanced weapon customization (not VERY enhanced. They really like to dress it up as a revolution in weapon customization, when it's really just more camos and a customizable emblem) and also the new and improved Zombies, a type of game I'm a personal fan, really appeal to me, maybe I should wait for the next title? My issue with it would be that Infinity Ward has the bad habit of not following in Treyarch's footsteps and making last year's game better, like KEEPING ZOMBIE MODE and KEEPING THE DAMN SHOTGUNS IN THE PRIMARIES, even though I prefer the MW franchise. I think it has great potential that has only been scratched in MW2. If they just kept the theatre mode, Combat Training (SOMETHING ELSE THAT'S REALLY, REALLY ATTRACTIVE, since I have a brother who's a fan of MW2 and we can only play 1-on-1 when we want) and really went all out with the stuff Black Ops did so superficially like the character customization and new weapon customization, it might be the deepest CoD yet.

But anyway, post your thoughts here, yeah?

Having to say IMO is stupid

Opinions shouldn't even exist (and neither should religion, but I'll talk about that later...). In fact, I'm not even sure they really do exist. What exists are facts, and how people interpret them is a whole different story. How they do interpret them is something that doesn't even matter, unless it's something that happened on a political playground, where interpretation is everything, because different judgments are always what is going to determine who is in charge. At least in democracies, which I believe are about 95% of the world's governments.

Well, why I think opinions shouldn't exist is the fact they don't do anything but generate arguments and anger. Also, why do I have to label everything that I say about a subject with "IMO" not to be crucified? Like when I say I don'tlike a game that everybody likes and I state why, people come at me and say "oh you can't come here and say that for a fact. That's just your opinion!". That is just as annoying as it is unfair. For example, I'm oftenat YouTube and about 50% of the videos I watch are about videogames. That leads me to a lot of comments exposing my point of view, so sometimes, when I wind up watching a BioShock or Halo video, and I criticize the game for whatever reason, rabid fanboys come out of nowhere and start swearing at me, calling me a "PS3 fanboy" or asking why did I come out of my hole to come and watch a video about a game I don't like. And it's like, just because I don't like the game doesn't mean I don't like to watch its damn videos. And what is it with people that crucify others so much on the internet? You know, if I say "Halo is terrible", that's gonna lead to an army of angry nerds screaming at me. But if I say ""Halo is terrible, IMO", it's a whole different story. It's like they ignore the comment altogether. But why do I have to label it as an opinion, when I'm talking about a PURELY SUBJECTIVE matter? And don't come here and say it isn't, because if it wasn't, there wouldn't be some websitesrating Assassin's Creed II 10's and some rating it 4.5. They all can analyze the game for what it is, but when it comes down to its enjoyment, opinion always plays the heaviest part.

Well I'm gonna leave it sort of open here. Tell me what you think about this situation, the very few people who read my blog :) your opinion is important. Yes, I see the irony...
