Cool Season 6 Theory

This isn't mine, but I think it's clever...it came from here...

http://blog.zap2it.com/lost/2009/05/lost-letters-from-the-flame-the-incident-edition-part-2.html

As Pete points out, the version of The Incident that we saw might in fact have slightly varied from the one described in the Swan orientation video. If so, that potentially creates a ripple affect of Island history, not world history. And in this new timeline, the Kahana never comes, the donkey wheel never gets turned, Jin never meets 1988 Danielle, she goes into the Temple, and never changes the message. But many things stay roughly the same, just in a slightly altered or delayed manner. Including Oceanic 815 crashing on the Island.

But I think it's still a different crash. Suppose the anomaly doesn't mean that Oceanic 815 lands safely in Los Angeles: it means that it crash lands on the Island, but with certain people possessing new insight into what Jacob wants them to do. Those touched by Jacob, who go through the "progress" of the past five seasons, now understand the point at which things went off the rails first time through, and are able to change things this time around. They still build their camp, but go about things in a different way.

I'm not sure I am totally sold on this variation, but it seems a better way to go than have Oceanic 815 land safely in L.A. I don't see one possible way in which that ends well for the show or the fans. The idea of them being blown through time to 2007 via some type of boom tube seems the most likely, with Jacob sending the Jack/Kate/Hurley/Sayid collection there to collect those incorrectly placed in time by Ben's turning of the donkey wheel.

But I'm kinda fascinated by the idea of Season 6 being Season 1, but an alternative version of it. The mind sorta boggles, doesn't it?

Lost Theory

Ok so here's the comprehensive theory my husband and I came up with after last night's episode after some discussion. Contrary to what most believe (from what I've read on the forums), we believe that Jacob is the bad guy and Esau (other guy) is the good guy. Not simply based on the biblical thing but because we believe that the island, pre-other people, represented a garden of eden of sorts a utopia. We believe that the island is a metaphor for the world...and just like in the bible it ends up being corrupted by others. The biblical reference that states that the elder shall serve the younger (in regards to biblical Esau and Jacob), we believe that it means that the traditionally good people (basically all characters on Lost that are not supernatural in some way) are actually unknowingly serving the purposes of evil (Jacob) hence his in one way or another being responsible for everything that eventually led them to the island. We also believe that Jacob and Esau are metaphors for evil and good/ devil and god. Our personal theory that we base this on is that Richard said that Jacob made him the way he is. Implying he was at one time an average mortal, but upon meeting Jacob (via the Black Rock we suppose) he ended up more or less doing the traditional Faustian deal of "selllng his soul" for immortality. We also believe that the entire tale of LOST is basically an elaborate backgammon game between the two sides where everyone is being used as pawns. My husband suggested that Adam and Eve were Rose and Bernard. I initially didn't believe it, but upon reading something interesting on Lostpedia I actually now thoroughly agree. Here is the excerpt (in case you didn't know the Nadlers are Rose and Bernard.)

From LOSTpedia: Also, the producers promised an anagram in the episode NOT IN PORTLAND as a clue to that mystery. "Only fools are enslaved by time and space" (of the room 23 video) can be re-arranged to form the phrase: "bones of Nadlers may lay lost deep in cave". Rose and Bernard have also been missing during the DHARMA period on the island. Lost from the other beach members and without supplies (which did not travel back in time) they knew the cave was their best chance for survival. Rose and Bernard would have continued to time travel with everyone else as long as they were alive. If they died before Locke's departure corrected the "time-skipping" their corpses would have remained in whatever time period they diesd in. If they died after Locke left, then they would have ended up in 1974 with the rest of the losties. Whether it was only 30 years (not 40-50 as Jack said), or more than that, their bodies would be plenty decomposed by the time they were found in 2004.

Oh and as most have surmised we do believe that Esau=Smokey/Island/any ghostly manifestation i.e. Ben's mom, Christian, etc. We believe he is truly working for the good of the island and to protect it from evil. Also based on something I read in a forum...we believe that the true John Locke still has potential for playing a role in the rest of the story based on the fact that the question asked was "what lies within the shadow of the statue", not who lives within. Locke's corpse was lying in the shadow at the time. Whether that's a bit of a stretch who knows.

Our theory for what happens next is that we will see more of the Black Rock era i.e. Richard and co. We think that the point of this entire time traveling season was to prove that all things were pre-destined. Even when they would intentionally try to throw things askew...they ended up doing/causing exactly what was supposed to happen. That was what happened at the very end as well. As Miles said..in trying to prevent "The Incident" they caused it. Just as was intended. It's a rather Calvinistic approach to the tale.

Well that's enough for now. :)

Whoa a real blog post?

I haven't truly blogged in quite some time, but...the feeling of summer is in the air here (it's 85 out today), and the feeling of leisure always accompanies summer for me....eventhough nothing's really changed for me except the weather this time.

At the moment I'm looking forward to the Variable. I'm a big Faraday fan, more than my husband would think apropriate I think, but he doesn't have to know ;). Also, my birthday is next Monday. I never thought I'd feel ancient at 22, but I sorta do. Which ironically is what I always wanted until it happened. I don't know if it's just me or humanity in general, but I've never until now truly understood just how much the grass is greener ideaology permeates my life's perspective. I ALWAYS want the opposite of what I have. I used to think that was due to novelty. You know, I have this..I wonder what having that would be like. Now, however, after I have often seen both sides of the coin in many instances..I still feel that way. Things that used to seem obvious dead ends when I was thoroughly submerged in them, now absolutely reek of possibility. Now is that nostalgia talking or a new appreciation for what I once took for granted? I've came to the conclusion that everything is simultaneously fantastic and terrible at the same time. Maybe the only thing left is to appreciate the heck out of the fantastic part, and remind myself that all other roads inevitably lead to an existence not so unlike the current one. Whoa..I just dived into a philosophical spiel and took you with me, I apologize.

Anyways, for my birthday we're going to Asheville to see The Presidents of the United States perform. I'm not a huge fan or anything...it's more about the trip to Asheville and seeing a band for my birthday that I look forward to. I would've rather seen 311, but I'm too cheap ;) (Yes I could say frugal...but somehow the double entendre is ok with me)

I've been reading alot lately. I've returned to Anne Rice's Vampire Chronicles. I've read some of them before, and missed them. I suppose vampire novels are a cliche, but hers are like a surreal acid trip for me filled with eroticism and timeless luxury...two of my favorite things. IMO, if the Twilight saga had been written more in that vein it could've been a masterpiece...but as it stands, while enjoyable, it was overall reekingly juvenile. But that's ok, I would've done the same thing.

I've been watching Idol this season as well. I used to think being addicted to Idol was weird...until I became addicted to it. Now, I completely understand. But it may be Adam Lambert I'm addicted to. Good thing he's more or less the clear winner. I know it's been done a lot, but I wish they'd have Beatles week again. Oh what he could do to Eleanor Rigby or I'm Only Sleeping...or yeah...it'd probably be Helter Skelter.

Lastly, what I'm most looking forward to this year comes on 09-09-09. If you haven't heard...yes it's Beatles Rock Band. The guilty fantasy I've had come to fruit. I still don't think anyone else could love it more than me. If you wanna see teaser clips type in McCartney Coachella Rock Band.. then salivate to your heart's content.

So does that count as a real blog?.....I wrote more than a sentence :) yay!

Love you all, (or just spod since he's probably the only one who reads this)

Beautiful Boy

Close your eyes,
Have no fear,
The monsters gone,
He's on the run and your daddy's here,

Beautiful,
Beautiful, beautiful,
Beautiful Boy,

Before you go to sleep,
Say a little prayer,
Every day in every way,
It's getting better and better,

Beautiful,
Beautiful, beautiful,
Beautiful Boy,

Out on the ocean sailing away,
I can hardly wait,
To see you to come of age,
But I guess we'll both,
Just have to be patient,
Yes it's a long way to go,
But in the meantime,

Before you cross the street,
Take my hand,
Life is just what happens to you,
While your busy making other plans,

Beautiful,
Beautiful, beautiful,
Beautiful Boy
