It's mainly an individual thing. If DLC is worth it to you, you'll pay for it. I've never considered cosmetics worth real money. But something like map packs, that actually add new content or more gameplay to the game, that's worth it to me. (And it seems weird to me that something like a map pack is considered "microtransaction" to some people.)
Where it seems to be getting worse is when we had something like a Season Pass which had you covered for pretty much any DLC to come for your favorite game in the future. But now that's not enough. You have Season Pass Extra, Season Pass Ultimate, Season Pass Essential. It just never stops. Because they're breaking the content down more and more.
I think one of the problems is that there will always be some wealthy gamers who will support things like microtransactions. If money is no object and you want it, the cost won't matter. Then the signal to the publishers is, yup, gamers are cool with it. So not only will it never go away, games will be even less finished when they are released.
Since no one has posted this yet...because they can.
Oh. Wait. There it is. And again. Oh, there's another one.
C'mon, seriously. They could drop $100 on this and it would sell. At that price point it might hurt sales slightly, but it's not like no one would buy it.
@timthegem: I can't say I'm a horror buff or anything, but this is definitely an interesting list with some stuff on it I wouldn't expect.
I've heard Freddy vs. Jason was pretty decent by most people that are fans. I think most liked Jason X as well. Non fans will often rip on nearly anything in the horror genre.
I thought Maximum Overdrive was pretty good. Especially by the standards of the time.
And the movies missing? I think it was the Ghoulies sequels that just went 100% off in a different direction than the first movie and were incredibly low budget. But maybe that's why they were just terrible terrible. Not awesome terrible.
@BeefoTheBold: I'm not the biggest wrestling fan ever, but this doesn't sound right.
AEW is the obvious one now. Then there's Impact, ROH, PWG among others just in the US. Mexico has a some bigger promotions, same with the UK and then New Japan of course.
I get that WWE is the big dog in the US (maybe even worldwide) but I wouldn't consider someone leaving there would be very limited if they really want to wrestle and have decent skills.
