Having the least powerful hardware didn't stop the DS from outselling the PSP. Also the 3DS is far more powerful than the the first PSP (3DS offers gamecube like graphics)

gamecube had graphics like ps2 which means psp graphics
1. They work with google together and open their library and their concept for other smartphones. Plus they make an adroid smarthphone psp hybrid by them self. This step brings the psp brand forward and makes sony ready when time comes if handhelds have to fusion with phones completly. Nintendo lacks this kind of concept. They are still stucked in the 90s when they did their money with pokemon. I see a lot of young kids these days with smartphones and other mobilphones.
2. The PSP2 is just better in technology. Nintendo has 3D therefore has sony better graphics. 3DS is just as strong as PSP while NGP is as strong as a PS3. 3D is pretty useless for handhelds, cause it will take too much battery life. Plus sony is the one who has better controlls this time. Two analogsticks, motion controls, two touchpads, camera and microphone. Sony lost the last generation because they focused too much on graphics while nintendo came with innovative controls. This time its completely the opposite. 3D is not ready for handhelds it will eat to much battery life while nintendo has nothing new with their controls besides that one analogstick.
