I understand what it is, but how exactly does it work? I mean from a technical standpoint.

For example, nearly all Xbox 360 games are a native 720p resolution, but when played on a 1080p TV, how is the rendered 720p image altered to fill the whole screen? I've been searching the internet for an answer to this, but for the life of me I can't find one.

Thanks for the answer. That said however, is there any positive aspects to having an upscaled 1080p image over a normal 720p image?

Okay, here's my situation. Just yesterday I bought an LG Plasma 720p HDTV for the main purpose of playing 360 games on. The reason I made this decision is because I know that 99% of the 360's games' native resolution is 720p. I also know that the general consensus is that games will ultimately look better played at 720p because at 1080p they are simply upscaled. My question is this: does an xbox 360 game with a native 720p resolution played on a 720p TV look the same as a the same game with same native origin played on a 1080p TV with the 360's options set to 720p or will one have a superior image to the other? If it helps, my TV is 50".

Any answers will be greatly appreciated.

For those of you that have tried using psp video 9, I cant convert any wmv file into a mp4 file. When I try converting one, instead of giving my the same file but in as an mp4, it just gives me this 1 mb file instead that I cant play because it says that its not even a movie file. I really need help please if you guys have any answers. Thanks.

Im putting mp4 videos onto my psp but they are not playing. it tells me that the data of the video is either corrupted or not suppoted. And a video converter probably wont work because they are already mp4 videos. if anyone knows how i could fix this problem then please help.
