This is probably the best value proposition Analogue has offered so far: built-in everdrive, analog and digital, and "bonus" other systems. IMO this is just a stop on the way to a far more comprehensive all-in-one system, and I don't see FPGA consoles maintaining resale value. But for someone starting out that is willing to spend the money, it's all you could ask for.
The best reason I can think of to leave 1-2 Switch out of the box is that Nintendo wants to ensure that most customers set up an online billing account immediately, and hopefully buy all their games digitally. Even then it should have been a digital voucher.
Sounds like politics to me. What he's saying is, "Warner Bros wants to make changes that I don't like, and I want to show I'm willing to walk away." It'll happen, no mere mortal could resist the opportunity.
