I just fot a new laptop that can handle all the pc games ive ever wanted to play. heres the problem that comes with that though, i can make up my mind on what to play first. I like almost every game type(besides racing and sports-better in real life) so theres so many options.

games im thinking of

Sins of a Solar Empire- I love RTS, especially suc in depth ones. Only thing stopping me is that i heard games can take forever, 8 hours+ on large maps. I dont want to play games that last tha long.

Oblivion GOTY- I love the elder scrolls and have played them all, including Oblivion on the 360. Im interested in getting it for the pc as there are a lot of mods and i have not played shivering isles or Knights expansion.

S.T.A.L.K.E.R- i dunno, always looked interesting and people say all good stuff

Quake wars- I already own UT3 and like it, to me it seems like a more tactical UT which interests me

Company of Heroes- Ihear nothing but good stuff and lik RTS- only thing is the military aspect really doesnt appease to me. If it was that good, i would play it, but the WWII stuff is overdone to me

Other notable ones in my head were of course TF2 and CoD4 yet i have those for 360 and a little wary of getting them again.

I know this is a lot but cant make up my mind. whats everyones opinion on these game or any other good ones. really need something.

Well i have a slew of questions actually. All rather small. I rcently just bought this laptop for school/gaming purposes ha and think I got my moneys worth for what it cost.

http://www.bestbuy.com/site/olspage.jsp?skuId=8780198&productCategoryId=abcat0502003&type=product&tab=2&id=1204332501169#productdetail

I still can return it, yet it works gret, and just looking for ppinions on if it was a good deal.

Now for the topic question. I hear about overclocking a lot of this forum and how it can get my processor speed(1.83 duo i think?) up some. I really dont know what it is so looking for someone to explain it. Along with this is it dangerous to the laptop or are there risks? If its riskless should i even attempt it on this laptop?

Sry if its a lot just getting into the pc sphere. Playing UT3 and loving it

It's out of your budget, but sooooooo worth it. Link.

luamhtrad

dude, listen to me, since you have a lower budget GET THIS LAPTOP.

I had a budget too, as my uncle was buying me a laptop and i didnt want to go too expensive yet get something with good specs. I got a hp and it SUCKED. Returned it, looked around, and saw this one mentioned. ITS AMAZING for its price.

Not to mention if you want to pick it up at best Buy in person print ou the online sheets, all of them, because Best Buy matches deals at the store. I got all the money off on accesories i needed as well as my choice of ANY PC GAME free(under 49.99 but thats everything almost ha).

The computer makes no noise, is cool, and runs things great. Im playing UT3 at full capacity with no lag singl or multiplayer. For the money its great

It is above everything my old laptop was. In additon, its about 6-800 less than i was planning on spending. On paper, looking at specs, it looks great. but what does everyone think? If it is as good as it looks, and i love the colors, then I can run down to Bb and pick it up today.

I recently had a horde of problems with my laptop and found out it was built wrong. I am returning it for a full refund but now i need a new one. I've had bad experiences with hp, and do not like dell or mac. Due to this i guess Sony and Toshiba would be my likely targets

I plan to use it mostly for school, music, and movies and the occasional game such as TF2 and Starcraft 2 when it comes out. Out of Toshiba and Sony, which compony makes the best quality etc etc for laptops. Or is there another brand i should look at?

Opinions?

Ok so i have had to reinstall Vista a few times because of stupid things i do. Well, it reports my graphic index at 1.0 and usually that is fairly high being a 5.5 or something, actually higher i think. Now it says 1, but i can still run all my games...What's vista's problem? mrhankeydinks

your problem is you have vista. might i suggest "upgradding" to xp?

i just recently obtained this laptop as a gift.

HP Pavilion dv9700t Entertainment CTO NB
- Upgrade to Genuine Windows Vista Home Premium with Service Pack 1 (64-bit)
- Intel(R) Core(TM) 2 Duo Processor T5550 (1.83 GHz, 2MB L2 Cache, 667MHz FSB)
- 17.0" diagonal WSXGA+ High-Definition HP BrightView Widescreen Display (1680 x 1050)
- 2GB DDR2 System Memory (2 Dimm)
- 256MB NVIDIA GeForce 8400M GS
- HP Imprint (Radiance) + Fingerprint Reader + Webcam + Microphone
- Intel(R) PRO/Wireless 4965AGN Network Connection
- 250GB 5400RPM SATA Hard Drive
- LightScribe SuperMulti 8X DVD+/-RW with Double Layer Support
- No TV Tuner w/remote control
- High Capacity 8 Cell Lithium Ion Battery
- Microsoft(R) Office Home and Student 2007

i really dont like the vista and want to downgrade to xp. However, im not sure if it is really neccsary. I hear some people really liking vista, yet they also have very nice rigs. Since my laptop isn't exactly the best, would downgrading to xp yeild much more benefits than cons. the only thing I really like iwith vista is the UI but other than that not much. Whats everyones opinions.
