Why do I have to fix it by raising the fan speed or buying an aftermarket cooler? Its Amd's job to fix their card.

ahhhh, well too bad DELLS are propriatary, or else you could get a new case. in realty, you would need a new motherboard too. WEll if you think you can do this mod, then do it. I modded my kandalf just for fun, its in the midst of waiting for the mesh to come and then its off to get painted.

You could just do a 4850 and do that. It can handle even CRysis at 16x10 on Very High with no AA for around 35fps, once again depending on CPU and other things.

I have a q6600,2gb ram, corsairHX520. The mod looks easy but I dont know if I can do it or not.

yes you can. Its rumbles with the 9800GTX, 98000gtx+ and GTX260. The card does tend to run hot, but ASUS has supplied their cards with software that has fan control. We will have to wait for ATI tool otherwise. I still dont know the problem tho, you look to have a dual slot card in that PC picture, what would it matter with the ATI one on the 4870?9mmSpliff
Why dosent Ati fix the heat issue?

Dual-slot cards dosent fit in my dell case without some slight modding. I have to cut some parts from the back of the case and some from the heat-sink fan shroud. Or should I just get a 4850? How much faster is the 4870 than 4850?

9mmSpliff

get the 4850 for sure it competes with and evenbeats the more expensive gtx260 and 280 up until 1920x1200 rez with 4xaa. the speed diffrence from he 4850 is big enough to warrant the upgrade and the dual fan cooler will allow for better oer cloking.

4850 is single slot just to remind ya, which would defeat his modding :D good idea

Can I max out every game at 1680x1050 with a 4850? Not talking about Crysis

You mean 4870 right? So its worth the case modding?

[QUOTE="wklzip"]

[QUOTE="-CheeseEater-"][QUOTE="9mmSpliff"]you got a SLI capable board and PSU? then do 8800GT in SLI.-CheeseEater-

And if I don't?

What dont you have: the PSU, the mobo or both?

Both.

Get a 4870 its on par with GTX280 and faster than a GTX260
