what i'm wondering atm is, how come the 8800gt performs better than a hd3870x2 on the same mobo with the same processor and same ram? even if the hd3870x2 is bottlenecked it should atleast perform better than a single 8800gt.

I don't hate nvidia or anything like that

i dono maybe you could try overclocking your cpu to 3ghz-3.5ghz. you'll need to by a third party cooler however...

im having similar problems with my 8800gt with crysis
Isbrealiompie

the cooler wont be a problem but i cant overclock with my current mobo... i was shocked when i ran the crysis benchmark on my comp after getting the HD3870X2.. My O/S, drivers are upto date

hello guys,

i am really confused.. i am getting really low performance on crysis with my rig, i get an average fps of 20.56 @ 1024x768 no aa and everything on very high, the game is fully patched and i have the latest drivers(8.7) for my graphics card. Is anything bottlenecking my card? my friend has the same rig as mine but leaving the HD3870X2 he has a NX8800gt and he gets an average of 27fps at 1024x768 no aa and everything on very high.

My Rig:

Mobo: Intel DQ965GF

Ram: 1GBx4 i.e. 4 sticks of ram of 1gb each stick @ 667Mhz

Graphics card: Saphire Ati Radeon HD3870X2 @stock speeds

Hard drive: Segate Baraccuda 250GB @ 7200rpm

Cabinet: Cooler Master Cm690 Mid Tower chasis

Fans: 7x120mm Fans

PSU: Cooler Master eXtreme Power 600W

Monitor: Acer Al1916W (19" Widescreen monitor)

i forgot to mention, the motherboard has a PCI-e x16 slot, i tired overclocking the Graphics card and was able to get a succesful overclock.. Core:891Mhz Memory:999Mhz. The performance remains unaffected
