@LiquidGold @HydePark1980 That was 2006, the industry has changed a lot since then (and not for the better). If you're an avid gamer then you know exactly what I'm talking about.
A lot of people feel that Nintendo rushed their system out too soon which might be true, however they're in a pretty unique position. Nintendo will get somewhat of a second launch this fall and holiday season, provided that the first-party games make an appearance. As for PS4 while I'm sure that it will get a lot of buzz and press at launch Sony is in a weird position.
The one thing that we as gamers haven't taken into account is that with all the great titles coming out for PS3 the PS4 could easily be overlooked especially if the price is not consumer friendly.
@McGregor Sometimes I go two to three months without playing video games, doesn't make me a casual gamer I'm just a gamer with additional priorities. I know just as much about this industry as any of these quote on quote hardcore gamers. Casual gamers is just some crap label gamers came up with to use as an excuse for the success for the Wii.
I find hilarious that gamers just can't say that maybe gamers in general purchased the Wii because they liked the simplicity of it. So we turn to this whole "they got lucky, they only got casual gamers nonsense".
Nintendo needs to stop making excuses for the ignorance in this industry, there's no way I'm gonna call myself a gamer or developer in this media soaked industry and not know the difference between the Wii U and the Wii.
@MooncalfReviews @HydePark1980 Who exactly are these developers? Gimmicks are defined as being something that stands out from the rest of the crowd. Not having gimmicks is what's killing this industry today, nobody takes risks anymore. This is 2013, where's the drive to do something different from what everyone else is doing? It's the same goddamn cycle over and over again.....make a powerful system, basic controller with an unending wave of M-rated games and repeat.
@SkamArtist While that would be the obvious thing to do, it would also be the worst. Leaving consoles to only Sony and MS wouldn't help this industry to grow...Nintendo is the only company today that pushes gamers to open their minds to different ways of gameplay.
