Gears most certainly doesent define computer and video games, nor the genre. Honestly Resident Evil 4 does in this regard. It is however a great game.

And yes you are right a game doesent need an exellent story to be a masterpiece, nor does it need fantastic characters. It all depends on the game itself.

I am attracted to well-written plots in games, but Gears of War is a game that I find tremendously gratifying, despite the fact that its story is not unique.

PS3? Lately the PS3 has been looking very attractive lately with MGS4 and all the good exclusives. Now I enjoy my 360 very much, especially its controller(as I mainly play FPS games), but the graphics of its games are not improving at all and the games like Killzone 2 have far surpassed 360 graphics while gears looks like that's all the the 360 has got in its tank. Also I am more interested in MGS4 and Killzone 2 than Gears 2(which looks like the only worthwhile game the 360 is getting now). I also like its games but, the Ps3 seems to be getting the edge in multiplats nowadays and it seems to have a lot more potential left. So should I sell my 360? bigevil_rashek

Gears was a Masterpiece, IMHO. Gears multiplayer getting bored? Well say that to the thousand of people who play it every day, even 2 years after its release.

again its your opinion but...

gears only scored great cuz of all the hype and the great graphics (yes i think theyre good). however games that are called masterpieces have stellar stories, great characters, amazing atmosphere and lots of other things that make a game that touches you....

perhaps gears did that to you but i seriously doubt Marcus Fenix or his crew left any lasting impression on you...

Games like stalker and metroid prime make my jaw drop at their immersive atmosphere..

Games like Metal Gear solid and Dreamfall : the longest journey really touch you and leave you a lasting impression that will never change.

Games like Geow and cod however just make me go "Meh, been there done that"

as for the multiplayer most of the geow players have either flocked to halo, cod or gta 4.

It aint about that man. It is about having fun with the game. Scores and sells are so overrated, what happened to the days where people would just play a game for the fun of it?

GTA 4 did not deserve a 10, eveyone I know are basically tired of it. Killing respawning cops and tryingto stay alive as long as possible starts to wear off.
