PS4 Dev Kit. You are right with Far Cry. But Far Cry was developed for PC which means they always develop for ultra high end PC ( likr the one they use in their office) and then downgrade it so the range of different rigs can handle it. the dev build of FC§ on the devs rig can run like the first showcase.

 

When developing for console ( according their website, the new Engine is tailor made for Next Gen consoles) you have fixed specs and you know what you are deloping for ( their Dev Kits, Dev Kits only have more RAM than retail consoles but everything else like GPU and CPU are the same). so they dont have to downgrade the game cause they know exactly what they are devloping for. its a bit hard for me to explain it in english...

you have to keep in mind the PC Elitists logic:

 

everything that looks great is either high end PC or bullshot although its stated as in-game, real time or clearly mentioned as Dev Kit Gameplay...

 

was the case for The Division, Quantum Break, The Order, dar sorcerer tech demo and so on... all console exclusive... although there isnt even an PC Version of them... they even said the GTA5 Gameplay trailer wasnt on console cause the 7 year old hardware would be too weak for that and so on...

why do you repeat yourself and spread such BS...  you have no idea how it works..  you just make some crazy assumption 

what this acutally means it that it renders everything within 0-2 with 40k. everything from 2-5 is 20.000k which is common as you wouldnt even see those detaills from that range. thats how you save processing power you can use elswhere and thats actually used in many games... or do you think GTA does render everything with full textures even if its like 1 mile away?

.As you said you have no idea how it works, fact is that the gpu can not render the whole scene along with multiple 40k npc's up close in real time as the user is playing and fighting that would strain the gpu too much causing them to make more sacrifices on other aspects . lowering the LOD in half at the distance starting 2+ means that the gpu can not handle multiple 40k models up close.

 

what you are talkin makes no sense. every PC game does this the same way and no the polycount doesnt gets suddenly reduced when a second NPC appears... thats just dump and wont work. thats like everytime a guy walks through the picture, you see the NPCs poping up some extra eye candy... thats just dump and no Game ever made this cause it isnt how this works... I dont know exactly how it works but defenitly it doesnt work that way..

KZ SF will not have an always true 40,000 polygon characters. The way they are going to allow 40k npc models is when there is only one npc within the distance of 0-2, the more npc's on screen within a certain distance the LOD quality count lowers

Maybe it's just me. But, in-game can include both cutscenes and gameplay. The teaser trailer looks like cutscene footage to me.

 

in this presentation they confirm that reveal gameplay and E3 gameplay both were same build and pre alpha. they also introduce the new charcater models side to side with the pre alpha models:
