I had my PC break on me and had it replaced, the old one had Win 7 and I loved it. I saw Win 8 from a friends computer and I couldn't understand it. Now with my new PC being Win 8.1, i'm slowly starting to like it as I learn it. Though as others mentioned, Win 7 was the best, now that it's being phased out, we have to get used to Win 8.1. We'll see what they do with Win 9.

It seems they're in a stupid cycle of releasing a great OS (Win XP) to screwing it up with Vista, then doing right again with Win 7 but then f'in it up once more with Win 8. That's just how I see it.

Well here we are looking at the signal, the electromagnetic waves moving from one end of the cable to the other (this is different from the actual electrons moving through the wire, that is very slow). In a vacuum this happens at the speed of light, but in a material it is lower based on the dielectric constant of the material.

So lets say the wire is made of copper and the extension cable is 3 meters long. We'll use round numbers and say the copper's dielectric constant is 3.0.

Speed of light, c = 3x10^8 m/s

Speed of signal in the copper wire = c/3 = 1x10^8 m/s

now the wire is 3m long so the time it takes for the signal to travel through it = (3 m)/(1x10^8 m/s) = 3x10^-8 s

So your input delay is extended by 0.00000008 seconds.

I think you'll be okay. The computer probably takes more time to figure out what to do with the signal and send the event to your game's application.

I appreciate the time you did to do this though a simple yes or no would have sufficed.

Thanks guys.

I agree, I was looking forward to the new Command and Conquer, going back to the General days and they some how f'd that up. I was just looking at Supreme Commander 2 on humble store, debating to pick it up since I never got it.

Starcraft 2 was the last good RTS game.

Hey,

My mouse USB cable is really short and I thought I'd get my self a USB extension cable. Is there any performance lost? I use the mouse mainly for gaming.

Thanks.

Received it as a gift last night, played a few hours and really liking it. It's not expensive and well worth the $40 price point (if you're interested in Digital). I've been away from Diablo 3 for several months now and am trying to get used to not having an AH to rely on. New loot system seems to be doing the job though, I guess I keep thinking how can I get good gear with MF/GF.

I wonder if there's a trading forum? Any who, pick up the expansion bud. If you love the story of where it ended, you'll enjoy this as well.

They implemented it on both, yea I would like a darker theme. It's too bright for late night reading.

It used to be that videos buffered for me and I could just roll back the slider and rewatch it without it needing to reload (meaning I could even watch it offline) but now it reloads everytime I rewind, grrrr.

This is the one Youtube change that I absolutely hated.

Hey guys, quick question,

I'm looking to buy a Razer Orochi gaming mouse that's meant for laptops. Though I use a desktop PC and I like this mouse a lot because it's wireless but it's only Bluetooth connected. Can I simply buy a cheap Bluetooth Micro adapter? Then turn my PC into a bluetooth enabled computer and be able to use the BT mouse?

Any help will be appreciated.

Here are the two links i'm referencing.

http://www.staples.ca/en/IOGEAR-Bluetooth-40-USB-Micro-Adapter/product_959028_2-CA_1_20001

Note: Reason why i'm buying it from Staples is because it's only available there locally. Best Buy/Future Shop does not carry it.

From Rockstar Games 45mins ago:

Access to GTA Online

Access to Grand Theft Auto Online is free with your copy of Grand Theft Auto V. On October 1st there will be a small downloadable Title Update released on PlayStation Network and Xbox LIVE. Upon installation of that Title Update, direct access to begin GTA Online will be unlocked in your GTAV game menu. You will be able to jump right into GTA Online via the 4th (bottom) slot in your GTAV character wheel. Weve received many questions asking for a specific confirmation of what exact time GTA Online will be available but of course this is contingent on both Title Updates becoming available on each consoles network. As a general timeframe, we do expect the Title Update to become available on PSN and Xbox LIVE starting around 7AM ET tomorrow morning, and your best bet is to stay tuned throughout the day here at the Rockstar Newswire and by following us on Twitter and Facebook where we will be keeping everyone updated.
