It's Chris Roberts. And those are not just a mere money. Those are hope, to the future of space adventure because we seriously missed the golden era and want to bring it back.
I personally worked on a concept art for another space sim game which budget isn't even close to 1/100 of this game's budget. Quality wise it's a hell of a significant difference I tell you, budget matters!
Higher budget means more team working on it. Also they can afford better people to concept the art, build the stages, 3d models, write the story, build the game mechanics, etc. Plus this isn't like Ubisoft / EA with their overspending low quality game they are going to make, they will make sure every dollar worth the game and we're all willing to bet on it.
Win win? Perhaps this is the actual scenario afterall.
To announce the console with loads of restricting features to attract mass consumer hate, and then ONE DAY drop the feature to relieve the consumer and make them think MS has listened to them "OMG, u guys are so kind to finally listen to the consumers". The key in this formula is WHEN
We really should thank Sony and their PS4 for changing the formula from WHEN to SOONER.
@wongph In short, you just want Bad Company so freakin bad, that's all. I personally disliked the Bad Company series since it's kinda CoD storytelling wannabe.
