the ONLY games where this would matter would be sports games, and I've been playing them for over 15 years. only ONCE has there been an occasion when more than 4 players were available to play a game of FIFA without having the option of doing so through either more consoles or more controllers.

Sports games, sports games and sports games..nothing else is viable. since most sports games are sports games, you're probably gonna end up playing a sports game if you want to use eight controllers.
