Survey says: BZZZZT! Pirates generally just download a cracked copy that's had the anti-piracy software removed. The people complaining about these anti-piracy measures are people who have bought the game and have to jump through stupid activation hoops or suffer from incompatibility and crashes caused by they copy protection software. They're upset (and they have a right to be upset) because they've paid for a product that's inferior and more inconvenient than what the pirates are downloading for free. The pirates aren't complaining about the copy protection measures because they don't have to deal with them. That doesn't sound very fair to me. Anyway, this is why publishers like Stardock should be supported for publishing games without copy protection.

[QUOTE="th2"][QUOTE="CajunShooter"]

So Microsoft is the winner cause they have fanboys like you that have terrible English. Even though Sony and Microsoft are made up of many people it is a singular Proper noun:

Microsoft IS the ture winner

Sony IS the only true loser.

sry dr.nerd

Don't worry you will understand all that stuff better once you pass the 4th grade.

LOL. You're one to talk. Corporations are treated as a singular proper noun in US English, but in UK English the preferred form is a plural collective. The internet is international, so the only appropriate treatment is to consider both forms correct. You shouldn't be correcting others on issues you don't fully understand yourself. http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/American_and_British_English_differences#Formal_and_notional_agreement

I don't know about your country in particular, but broadly speaking across Europe as a whole Wii and Wii software are doing amazingly well.

Especially when the games are not as fun as they used to be.too_much_eslim

What if we don't agree with you on that point? I mean, you were all disappointed in Twilight Princess. I think it's more fun than OoT/ALttP. Mario Galaxy was the most fun I've ever had with a Mario game. The entire Metroid Prime trilogy was great. I think that Nintendo's recent software is by and large superior to what they were doing in the NES/SNES days.

If you want consideration for your opinion, you have to realize that your judgement of 'The games aren't as fun as they used to be' isn't universal.

Are you kidding me? That could explain one high review score, or even ten. But the bald fact is that the game has met with universal praise from reviewers. Not a single site counted by gamerankings gave the game a score below nine.

So, either every game reviewer in the world loses sight of their objectivity when playing a Mario game, or the game is one of the best ever made. My money is on the 'one of the best games of all time' option.

The Truth has arrived and its name is Wii.Blackbond

Amen. People need to understand: you don't get dramatic, industry upsetting turnarounds in the middle of a generation - it has to happen at the generation transition. Nintendo has won the sales race already. It's over. Look at PSP - despite a truly outstanding resurgence in hardware sales, it will always be second to the DS in hardware and even more so in software.

Wii is the console of the forever. It will be on the market for longer than its competitors and it will outsell them at a higher price should they drop that low. Nintendo has so many options to pull before price that it's not even funny. New colors, anyone?

Wii Fit isn't the end. It's just the beginning. Zapper, Wii Wheel, Balance Board - what makes you think they don't have a plan for a peripheral that will be seen as another new proposal by the mainstream, again, for 2009?

Lol wtf, you link us to another forum. How useless. Sorry, but I need a better source than some forums. l-_-l

You're marking yourself as someone who doesn't follow sales at all. If you did, you'd know that NeoGAF gets disclosure of the NPD hardware totals and software top ten at 6:30 EST on Thursday, and -cnc- posts them here at GameSpot. These are the numbers.

I think that you're bringing up some very essential points, subrosian. I think that System Wars could benefit from some demarcation. It should be possible to talk about sales in a meaningful way without hearing "you can't play sales". It should be possible to predict review scores and discuss the scores and reviews without hearing how futile such comparisons and bets may be. It should be possible to claim that Twilight Princess was one of the best games you've ever played and discuss why you feel that way with the SW regulars without being dismissed by "8.8 lol". You should be able to hate on No More Heroes, Bioshock or Uncharted without being dismissed by "AAA". You should be able to talk about which system is your favorite and which has your favorite games without hearing about sales numbers.

In short, I think we could benefit from some topic categories and labels in which different customs and mores apply. For instance, in a topic labeled -Sales Discussion-, it should be considered impolite to complain about how sales aren't everything and how certain sales aren't desirable to you, because it doesn't add to the convversation. Save it for -Industry Discussion- or something. It should be considered similarly taboo to bring sales numbers into discussions of preference and opinion, whether for games or consoles.

To reiterate, I respect dislike of the Wii. That's a perfectly valid opinion.

However, I have zero respect for this kind of nonsense:

For my life I cannot figure out why gamers can actually find the Wii is a quality product.

HOW CAN PEOPLE LIKE THIS SYSTEM.ThaLootDog

Especially coming after this:

I am very open mindedThaLootDog

When you know damn well that

people rave on how fun the Wii is.ThaLootDog

The bottom line is that there's nothing wrong with liking or disliking the Wii. Your inability to comprehend that some people like and even prefer the Wii is not evidence of a problem with those people, it is a personal failing on your part.

You just completely ruined the points of your previous topics. A regular Wii gamer. And if you read before I said I respect your opinions, they are just uneducated. It's like saying the opinion of a professional is equal or less to the opinion of an inbred homeless person with no education.

ThaLootDog

What grounds do you have to state that your opinion is better? From my point of view, my opinion is better than yours. You can't claim to respect my opinions and then call them "uneducated". That is disrespecting my opinion. So, having done so, why shouldn't I assume that your opinion isn't as good as mine? From my point of view, my opinion is that of the professional and yours belongs to the inbred homeless person with no education.
