Oscar De La Hoya didnt threw away that fight! It was just the logical decision not to continue anymore. Manny could not kncok him down but from how the fight was going on it was basically almost inevitable that Oscar was gonna hit the canvas anytime soon - which is why throwing in the towel was a smart decision as you dont wanna see Oscar getting knocked down or hurt there. I guess you should watch and analyze the fight more cause there was 1 head snapping punch during Manny's assault in round 7 when DLH was pinned down in the ropes and ofcourse you should definitely notice the numerous times DLH's head snapping a little bit in a lot of straight left hooks Manny gave him.
Anyway Manny isnt really the type of fighter who always knocks down people because of 1 haymaker, he is more of a fighter who wears down his opponent with furious assault until his opponent's body could not take it anymore and succumbs to a final blow.
The Golden Boy also used his left jab quite alot against Pacman but it didnt really turn out to be effective cause Manny's textbook style head movement and elusiveness was the key for Oscar's job being less effective. And another probelm was that Oscar never used any variety and combinations of his attacks.
Oscar throughout his career has never been the type of fighter with elusive intent, he is more of a stand still guy, move forward and fight toe to toe. He also depends mainly on blocking in the defensive end.
If there was anything why Oscar De La Hoya didnt look enabling on that match is because he is already at the end tip of his career line and he cant pull the trigger anymore. He did his best on training and in fight night but in the end it wasnt merely enough.
One of the biggest upset in boxing history, Manny Pacquiao is now a certified boxing legend and one of the best boxers of all time!
This wasn't the biggest upset in history. It was domination by a better, smarter boxer. It maybe was an upset to all the so called experts but at this point, Manny is in his prime and De La Hoya is in the twilight of his career. Now Pacman can choose whoever he wants to fight. My prediction: Pacquiao vs. Hatton in the Spring of 2009. Pacquiao W KO. After that: Pacquiao vs. "Money" Mayweather. ??? I never said it was the biggest upset in boxing history. :? I said one of the biggest upset but if I exaggerated then call it at least an upset in a small way. One thing was for sure though is that Manny Pacquiao from the beginning of the bell already sent a clear message to most people that the pre fight thoughts was far different from reality.[QUOTE="Espurs117"]Im Mexican, so im rooting for Oscar. However I don't think he will win, Pacman is too good. I would not be shocked if De La Hoya won tho, no way he gets a knockout. Also its interesting that Pacman enters the night heavier than De La Hoya. I find that funny. X360PS3AMD05I knew that name "espurs" was a spanish joke :P
Waste of money. Not even a close fight. Espurs117My uncle bought it at the last second  ^ LOL what upset? De La Hoya is washed up, he looked lethargic with the weight loss, he's sucked in the last idk how many fights i've seen him in. The odds was 4-1 for Oscar a weeks early (It went 2-1 just before the fight but it was still a good odd for The Golden Boy) and you got 75% of all the boxing experts predicting that Oscar is gonna stop Manny in the middle stages of the fight cause of the size difference but when the result was actually the opposite (Which was what Manny did to Oscar instead) then I would consider it as an uspet.

It sounds like the TC wants Canada to become an evil imperialist nation. Shame, if he is a Canadian.
