I'd go with 3x frag/special grenades, stopping power and steady aim. Honestly, to use the AK47 to it's fullest potential, you have to use it on the right maps. I recommend it for Vacant, Shipyard, Wet Work or any other rather small map with tight quarters. If you try and use it on Strike or Crash you might not get the same results. It's like an SMG in nature. Personally, I'm a MP5 man in tight quarters.
I feel you man. I go through the same thing all the time. I have a hard time switching between Halo 3 and COD 4. Both games require very fast reflexes and being unsure of configuration can get you killed.

I'm not a Grammarian myself, and I normally wouldn't even bring it up since it's a forum on videogames and not Charles Dickens.
