Thanks, you're right the main difference is the 750i has 1 less pci-e slot taking away the tri sli option. I didn't plan on selling our house just for tri-sli anyway. I also have heard ultras low end psus are garbage but there high end are great, plus i like the modular idea, AND it comes w/ 4Gb of ram.

I'm going to be building my own gaming pc very soon so if i could get some input on this from some people with more expertise than me that would be great. Some games i'm getting are crysis, sins of a solar empire, and age of conan when it comes out. Any advice or things you would change? thanks in advance

SYSTEM::
MoBo: EVGA nForce 780i SLI; >> difference from 750i?
CPU: Intel Core 2 Quad Q6700 (2.66GHz);
CPU Fan: Artic Cooling Freezer 7 Pro;
Graphics Card: EVGA GeForce 9800 GTX;
RAM: Corsair TWINX DDR2 800MHz (4 x 1042);
PSU: Ultra X3 1000-Watt Modular;
HDD: Seagate Barracuda 7200.10 320GB; >> upgrade 500GB?
Drive: Lite-On SuperAllWrite SATA DVD Burner;
Case: RaidMax Smilodon Extreme Black;

ACCESSORIES::
-Logitech Wave wireless keyboard/mouse combo
-Zonet USB Wireless (g) network adapter
-Acer AL2216WBD 22" Widescreen LCD >> is 19" big enough?
-Vista 64 bit or 32 bit -- cant decide

Notes: PSU and RAM came as a bundle deal, so do Mobo and cpu.

I though this was going to be good when i first heard about it, but now i'm leaning towards going with intel and nvidia again on my next hi-performance build. AMD/ATI had a lot of forward thinking ideas and i thought this platform had potential but intel and nvidia can deliver much more performance it still seems. Is it time to give up on amd/ati.

um i dk if you know this but onboard graphics suck just cuz it has a coool name like ati hybrid technology doesnt mean its good

buy a video card

and dont buy the 9500 its crap amd just relased new phenoms with no TLB bug and a B3 stepping and dont buy a 32 inch monitor get a nice 22inch one so gaming will be less choppy and laggy with it

that psu sucks ultra is a good company but theri lowend psus are rubbish the only good ones they have are the high wattage psus

and the cpu is waste on the processor buy an arctic cooling freezer 64pro or a ninja scyth copper heatsink

oh just read that you already own the 32 inch monitor well good luck gaming on that it will be the worst expereicen of your life good luck :)

Haha dude thanks, that was a little harsh, but it was certainly helpful

thanks for all the tips guys. i guess graphics card would be a good investment, especially because this board has ATI's hybrid graphics technology. That means the onboard GPU (75% of it anyway) will work with the pci-e card for even more performance, sort of like crossfire/sli. Also, the card comes with a DVI to VGA adapter.

PS: i don't really know what i was thinking when i said "casual" gaming. Gaming is definatley the main reaason im getting it, i think i was trying to give you the idea that i don't want to spend a fortune. I am also considering spending a little extra and getting an "ASUS M3a32 MVP Deluxe" board, and an ATI 3850 or 70 Graphics Card, which i think would make future upgrades easier

I am planning on building my own multimedia and casual gaming pc within the next few weeks and i have almost everything i need picked out. I am trying to get this built on a fairly tight budget. If you would just look it over and give any tips that would be great.

MoBo: ECS A780GM-A (ATI Hybrid Graphics Tech.)
CPU: AMD Phenom X4 9500
CPU Fan: OCZ Vanquisher Multi-Socket CPU Cooler
Memory: OCZ Platinum Revision-2 PC6400 DDR2 800MHz (2 x 1024MB)
** Considering 4 x 1024, since price is under $40 for 2.
HDD: Seagate Barracuda SATA 7200.10 250GB
DVD Burner: Lite-On LH-20A1S SuperAllwrite SATA DVD Burner
Graphics Card: None? ATI Radeon HD 3200 on-board...
Wireless: TRENDnet TEW-423PI PCI Wireless Adapter (wifi g)
Case: Ultra m998 ULT40069 Mid-Tower ATX Case
** Apparently this is an unbelievably easy build case according to reviews
Power: Ultra X-Connect V-Series 400-Watt
** Not really sure here

This all comes out to about $640 at TigerDirect, before ~$50 in rebates.

I already own and plan to use this:
-Logitech Wave wireless mouse + keyboard.
-32" 1080p sharp aquos HDTV w/ VGA input, 6ft HD-15 Cable
-Logitech 2.1 speakers
-Windows XP Home SP2

So anyway, is there anything i should reconsider? Did i forget something (cables etc)?

Thanks in advance
