Like has been said, Arma II is an unforgiving milsim so its not great to pick up and play. If you want the ability to sit down and join a pug server and have some fun, get BF2.

The only way to play Arma or Arma II is with a group of people who play organized games. Organized games in Arma are by far the most fun I've ever had with a PC shooter. Check out TG (tacticalgamer.com).

Honestly I would get both, you should be able to find BF2 extremely cheap.

Do you not want ArmA + ACE suggested because you've played it? Played on a sever like Tactical Gamer, there is nothing better realism-wise (unless you play with ShackTac).

I've been considering it. I have the 10 day free trial going currently, but I'm still looking for other options.

There are alot of games that arnt worth buying for me, I'll only play them once and then shelve them. I'd prefer only buying games that I play for a long time for the multiplayer.
