[QUOTE="GlenQuagmire"]And I don't understand the ragging on the game's gameplay. Honestly, it's a friggin' blast. I guess people are so used to having the same drivel gaming ideas shoved down their throats that they don't want anything that tries to stray from the norm. GlenQuagmire

Not at all, my friend. Bioshock has much richer gameplay (due to plasmids and the like) than most games, but it's still the case that you can walk into a room with 10 enemies and just start shooting and still win the fight - in that way, Bioshock's gameplay feels just like Doom 3, Quake IV, Half-Life 2 - that's why I got bored with those games, and that's why I'm waiting until Bioshock is $20.

Wow, comparing Bioshock to Doom 3 and Quake 4? No, that's completely wrong. Half-Life 2 was an absolute borefest, and Doom 3 and Quake 4 were two of the most disappointing games of my life. Bioshock may not have reinvented the FPS genre, but at least it tried something different, something which turned out very well.

Holy crap - YOU THINK HL:2 WAS A BORE FEST??? And DOOM 3 and QUAKE IV were DISAPPOINTING?

If it weren't for this Bioshock dispute, I would think we were long lost brothers!!! ;)

No, my complaint with Bioshock's gameplay is that it feels cartoonish. It's really a matter of personal preference, that's all.

I'm able to run the demo maxed out @ 1280x1024 using a 7800gtx and 2gb ram (DX9 duh!).

I was expecting to run it at medium/high because the recommended card itself is a 7900. But wow... ran it fine with NO lag whatsoever. Very surprised... very well done indeed.

Yes, quite well done. The framerate was always pretty high on my rig, and given the quality of the graphics, I'm VERY impressed. Most games with half the graphical goodness of Bioshock run only slightly faster.

The stupid download keeps timing out or something, but yeah I was really interested in this game anyway. If you are a gamer and you own a PC or Xbox 360, I think this game is a must-play.PCgamerX

Maybe try fileplanet? I am a non-subscriber, but I was downloading at 2.5 MB/sec after a twenty minute Q.

runs good on my 2 year old rig, but I'll wait for it to come down in price, $50 for a FPS with no multiplayer will be just as good when it cost $20.lordkosc

Excellent point.

Did the Bioshock Demo Change Your Mind?

I was very excited to play Bioshock's PC Demo today. I jumped onto Fileplanet right at 7:00 PM EST, and started downloading within 20 minutes. I saw the size of the waiting list grow from 64 to over 1500 in less than ten minutes... INCREDIBLE!

Now that I've played the demo, however, I will NOT be buying this game. Believe me, I am even more surprised about this than you are. I was really hoping this game would rock; I haven't had a great single-player FPS experience in quite some time. The demo itself is a technilogical marvel - the graphics are stellar and the game runs quite smoothly in Vista on my 8800 GTS at 1920 x 1200, everything maxed. Sound is great, production values are high. So what's the problem?

The main thing I dislike about Bioshock is the combat: the enemies felt a little stupid, and I really don't like the "run 'n gun" shooting style anymore. I don't want a true-to-life combat sim, but games like Far Cry and FEAR managed to strike the balance between balls-to-the-wall blasting and more conservative, precise gun battles. In Bioshock, I would zap a dude and hit him with a wrench, and he'd go down. Some creatures I had to shoot over and over again. I would be attacked by a half-dozen enemies all at once and it was nothing but a frantic spray-and-pray - and that gets old quick.

Anway, what do you all think?

I still don't care about bugs, but after hearing the "two families that rule the world" theory, perhaps boycotting a game ain't so bad. :D Down with STALKER!

In all seriousness, I think that there are much buggier games to boycott, like KOTOR II, which didn't have an ending. Neverwinter Nights 2, Dark Messiah, the list kees going on. But all of those have a common theme: they were rushed, just like STALKER. So the real concept here is how do we fix that?

Show the dev teams, in force, that we support the games whenever it comes out, Christmas time or not. Perhaps this could be solved in a way that doesn't make anyone lose, because boycotting is a lose-lose situation...we lose the game, they lose business. Perhaps we could help show the devs that we support them, and that's win-win.

Idealistic, I know, but no more epic and interesting than boycotting stuff.

gbarules2999

I don't really understand what you are recommending - can you elaborate?

Also, one thing that makes STALKER exceptional is this: they are ALREADY working on a prequel and have all of their devs on that. Sometimes devs go belly-uo, or the team is broken up. But GSC is still together, they would just rather make their next game then fix their current game.

[QUOTE="J-REAL"]It wont stop me from playing games but I do know whats going on. And does it matter to me yes because I want everyone to know whats going on thats the only way we can change things in the world if people were to wake up and open there eyes.J-REAL

??? So you are giving money to the Evil Elites that run the universe? Then you are as guilty as they are!!! TO THE WALL.

Thats the system they set up. Its called slavery. We now depend on this system now and its to late to go back really. When you go out and feed yourself you are supporting them, put gas in your car, talk on the phone. Almost everthing you do in your life its supporting them.

Wait a minute, dog. I am not the one saying they are our enemies - YOU ARE. So YOU should not support them. IT IS FAR WORSE TO KNOWINGLY DO WRONG (that's you) then to accidently/ignorantly do wrong (that's me, if your theories are correct). So who's worse? YOU.

We the USA sale nukes and bio weapons to =/. Do you know that? lol! You see this is were progaganda comes in to play lol! You were told that by US news agencies and now you believe that lol! Prefect example. How is N.K selling nuclear weapon technology when Nato said they might be a few years away from making a bomb =/. I mean if thats true which I dont believe then how are they selling this technology when it hasnt proven that it works. Sometimes you have to sit back and use your brain and say well that doesnt make sense.

J-REAL

We equip our Allies with modern weapons - taht I agree with. We sometimes equip are enements - e.g. the Saudis - that I reject.

Here's the thing, THE US MEDIA REPORTS ALL OF THIS!!!

It's no government secret, as much as you wish it were one. I am well aware of our weapons sales - the good, the bad, the ugly... it all gets exposed in the USA because our media IS FREE.
