Grace Benfell - Great read. However there area few things that you should know. Cliff Bleszinski is the creator of the GEARS series. Microsoft Purchased the IP . Gears 1-3 were done by EPIC GAMES, Gears Judgment by People Can Fly and Epic Games. Gears 4-5 and Hive Busters The Coalition.
There was an interview with Cliff Bleszinski a few years ago about GEARS. He says something like the bad guys are not who you think they are. If you've played the game and did more research. You would know that the Humans on planet Sera, were in a great battle called the Pendulum Wars. Much like what we're doing now on earth, but on a much larger scale. Marcus joined the COG military about 80 years into the war.
The Humans had an orbital satellite weapon called "The Hammer of Dawn". That weapon was just as destructive as a Nuclear Bomb but with no radiation fallout and it can be precisely aim at just about any target on the planet. That weapon combined with many years of battle took it's toll on the planet. That's when the LOCUST HORDE emerged hence Emergence Day.
So if you look at it from another view point, The HUMANS were the ones destroying the planet not the Locust. They were trying to save the planet, but in order to do that they had to stop the humans. So really the BAD GUYS are the HUMANS not the LOCUST. Just because they look like monsters, doesn’t mean that they are.
P.S. if I made any errors, feel free to correct. Thanks
@Megavideogamer: This isn't a streaming only console. It's just a XboxOne S without a Disc drive. It still has all the other required hardware inside. You just download your game like you do now (online). Xcloud is a digital streaming service for games, much like netflix is for tv/movies. Hotel chains isn't a bad Idea. They could in fact make billions of more dollars going that route, howerver that's what XCloud is going to do without the need to lug an Xbox1 from place to place.
@blueinheaven: I have to disagree with the "Spencer needs to go..." He was the one to turn Xbox around form the pit it was in. You know of someone better? The innovations that they are bringing is making it better for ALL gamers. The acquisition of thoses studios were all Phil Spencer's Idea. New exclusives games are coming thanks to him and you think he did a bad job? REALLY. I and many others are glad to see him bring Xbox from the pit of despair.
BTW. Everyone doesn't want to play their games on a PC. PC games are still on the Microsoft platform. However for those that do ..enjoy.
@Vodoo: Throw in the towel? Microsoft..... Really.. Don't think so. They have invested a ton of money for their gaming infrastructure from consoles, to streaming and distribution (Xcloud). When you have data centers all over the world designed for streaming and hosting of online play, I highly doubt their throwing in the towel. Their online services are making a lot of money. Xbox Game Pass alone raked in over $300 million in less than a year (not including the Xblive service which does $1.2 Billion yearly). They have revenue coming in from their gaming division. That's not the problem.
Now they need more ORIGINAL IPs from their new studios, which is coming. Nothing happens overnight, but give it time. The Xbox360 did a fantastic job in it's time. I don't see that as a failure. Spiderman isn't a new IP. There have been many Spiderman video games way before the PS4 version. Not everyone is going to buy original IPs. Horizon Zero Dawn hasn't sold more than 10%-15% of 80 million consoles, neither has God of War nor Spiderman. Exclusives will never outsell multiplats. Look at GTA, Red Dead 2 and COD4 franchises, these 3 alone sell in month what most Exclusives can't sell in 5-10 years.
Nintendo is dominating the handheld market with the Switch. It's basically a portable device that can plug into a TV. People like it cause it's versatile and portable. Also, It has some good games. However, that's all about to change with the ability of playing your favorite game on ANY device from your phone to your tablet. Change is coming and Microsoft in on the forefront of that.
@Terrorantula: Why are you trying to tell people what they should play their games on? Just because you might play them on a PC doesn't mean we all want to play our games on a PC. Seriously, people are going to buy and play what they want on whatever they want to play on. It's THEIR MONEY. You should get over not being able to tell people what to do with their money and time. You can give an objective opinion of the subject matter and that should be as far as it goes.
Hello Fellow Gamers. $189 plus tax. That's almost $200. No thanks. I can get a complete retropie setup with over 5k roms and tons of old school systems for way less from Ebay and other Internet sources. With the raspberry system, you can also change just the micro SD with whatever you like. No hassle there.
@onehitta323: And why would say that? Again with no facts to back it up. Just opinions. Do you need me to send you facts about the Xblive network being far stronger? It's not hard to do. The internet search is your best friend.
