You get bonuses once they like you enough, just like the other characters.

Installing another OS on the ps3 is more just for fun for coders who like to mess around with the hardware, things like that. It's not a replacement for a regular PC.

I would just take those 1200 and get a nice E8200 or something, a decent motherboard, 4gb of ram, and an 8800 or higher. That'll cover you for a while with PC games, and you can also do all the other fun PC things.

either way I don't see how it's a bad idea for consumers. It's not like the SKUs are that different, everything in the 60/80gb is pretty much just extra stuff that most people wont use. So it makes sense to have 2 since everyone is whining about the price. It's definately not very hard to choose one either, so what's the big deal again?

http://www.us.playstation.com/PS3/About/Comparison

There's everything listed side by side on their website... is it really THAT hard for people to choose one...

---

"OH NO SONY DISCONTINUED THE 60GB for the 80GB WHICH IS EXACTLY THE SAME?! OMG"

I bet sony will release a 120gb PS3 soon, and that will also be exactly the same as the 60gb.

Much harder shopping for PC parts or even a TV.

The PS3 web Brower is using an old version of flash. As far as I know there is no way to upgrade it. Maybe sony will through a firmware update soon. (I wish)

Blu-ray data transfer rate 36.0Mbps (1x)

DVD data transfer rate 11.08Mbps (1x)

ps3 has a 2x blu-ray drive

Xbox360 has a 12x DVD drive

PS3 = 72 Mbps

Xbox360 = 132 Mbps

BUT.. I found this (I don't know how true it is but I don't notice the ps3's loading to be slower than any DVD drive)

So it seems like they are pretty much the same...

BUT (again)

remember every ps3 has a hard drive, so the games can use it to reduce loading times by A LOT. (Most 2.5" hard drives have a transfer speed of about 150 Mbps).

A developer could probably use both the blu-ray and the Hard drive to transfer data at the same time for some 222 Mbps action!

and that's all I have... oh and I have no noticed any long loading times on my PS3 :?

don't rule out DLP sets.

some basics about dlp

-------------------------

No burn in at all

High contrast levels (10,000 ish)

super fast response times (around 16 microseconds, not to be confused with miliseconds)

General longer life than plasma or LCD sets

Cost less

-------------------------

All you pay is that they are slightly fatter than lcd/plasma TVs. size

I'm just saying because when I was shopping for an HDTV I did a lot of research, and after trying out the Plasma and LCD TVs I stayed with the DLP because it was just better.

only thing is you can't hang them on the wall. I don't care much for that but some do.

so imo look into it. :)

Crysis on high settings on the ps3? no.

very dumbed down version of crysis on ps3? yes.

High end PC costing 5000 dollars? HAH sick of hearing about this, you can buy a high end pc fast enough to run crysis for about 2000 dollars (canadian).

Haze comparable to crysis? it's close if you squint your eyes... open them and you'll see that crysis has A LOT more detail going on.

http://www.crytek.com/technology/cryengine-2/specifications/

take a look at that, those are the basic specifications of the CryEngine2 easy enough for most people to understand.

Now i'm not saying it's impossible to create a game with all the features that the CryEngine2 has on the ps3...(not likely) but what i'm saying is that we wont see this type of visual quality on the ps3 for a LONG time.
