Only the oil companies would be profiting off of it. There are plenty of industries here that relate to the Bay and the ocean. And normally, no, but my governor wants to drill close to the shore, which will definitely affect the ecosystem there. I honestly have no idea how that idiot got elected. If anything this would increase the Virgina economy. If tobacco is all you guys have going for you then oil would do great for your state economy. Also, your acting like they just drill up and don't care about safety. It's the exact opposite. When was the last time we heard about an offshore drilling accident off the Gulf of Mexico?

No. Lost mine on August 24, 1994 at around 5:30 in the afternoon. It was a Wednesday and too hot and humid to go outside. So we didn't.

I lost mine in 1991, not inconceivably before a few posters on this thread were born. What a peculiar thought… I feel old – I need to sit down with a cup of tea to think about this for a second.
Yeah, tell me about it.
Sometimes when someone on here says something like "My first game was (playstation 2 game here)" I'm like 'whoa, didn't that come out just a few years ago. Wait...it's 2010...dammit.'
You had your first experience just a little while after my parents conceived me. How does that make you feel? But what about places that can't afford to have their waters damaged? What about over here in Virginia, where pollution in the Chesapeake Bay has already nearly killed off all the sea life, and if it were drilled for oil we'd lose millions of dollars in our seafood and tourism industries? Because, aside from tobacco, that's really the only thing we have going for us.It's about damn time we start getting our own oil off our shores.

I aspire to be you.It was more like "It's 98 degrees and 90% realtive humidity? Screw going outside, and SCREW YOU, too!"
