I have an HP with Windows XP Media Center Edition with 1 gig of Ram and an AMD Athlon 3400 @ 2.2 ghz (Single Core). I will be adding a Radeon 4650 graphics card to it. This computer just sits around collecting dust so I decided to take the burden off of my gaming PC and load all of my standard and HD video files off of it and put them on the XP Media Center PC. Since I will be using XP Media Center Edition with the 4650 listed below, should I expect acceptable playing quality if pretty much all of my movies are no higher than 720P? The graphics card states that it is HTCP compatible and even runs the sound through its HDMI port. The onboard sound chip is capable of 5.1 surround sound so I think it should sound pretty decent compared to my quad core machine with a 250GTS. I am just tired of lugging my comp from the office to the front of the house just to watch movies.

Thanks

I am trying to find out if Windows XP has any sort of option that will allow me to set it to where it will boot up automatically at say 8am for work. If this is not possible I am sure my bios can do it. Please let me know.

Thanks

I'm talking about DDR2 1066 memory vs DDR2 800 memory.

I am helping my cousin pick out parts and build an AMD system with the Phenom 2X4 940 processor. I know that when I built by Intel Q6600 system, everyone told me that I wouldn't notice a performance boost in the 1066mhz Ram. In other words, The 800mhz ram is going to essentially provide the same amount of performance. My question is,,, Does this hold true for AMD systems? Would he notice any real performance difference between the two. He's not running any sort of memory benchmarks and is just doing normal computing and some live TV recording. Maybe a little gaming (he bought a HD 3850).

Thanks

I decided on getting the 940 with the help of some people here on the board. I am now trying to decide on the right mobo that supports the AM2+ socket. I can only spend $100 (give or take). Also, I don't need crossfire (just need 1 PCIE 2.0) and am only using ddr2 800 or 1066 mhz ram (prefer 16gb memory max). I prefer ATX size. I don't mind what brand it is as long as it has good reviews. I prersonally have a gigabyte for my q6600 brand and love it.

I gratly appreciate everyones help.

Thanks

Thanks for the quick response about the mobo but I don't know if I would want a micro ATX plus. Also, I am a little worried about buying one that has no reviews.

Thanks

I know. I was just saying that because I trust gigabyte mobos but I really don't care the brand as long as it is good quality for around $100.

Thanks
