I am looking at getting a tv between 42 and 50 "s for the purpose of TV, Xbox 360, and computer monitor. I am more of a Plasma fan and yes I know that people will mention burn in but I know that burn in is no longer a problem with plasmas. My real question is.... What is more important? contrast or resolution? When I go to stores looking at TVs I always notice that most plasmas only go up to 720p whiles lcds go up to 1080p. But at the same time I notice that LCDs contrast ratio only goes up to about 8000:1 where as Plasmas are around 30,000:1. That is a huge increase for the plasma tv.
So basically, even though plasmas go up to 720p, would the picture still be better than a 1080p LCD due to the fact that they have such a higher contrast ratio? Plus I have read over and over again online that the human eye can make little difference between 720p and 1080p but contrast ratio is very easily noticed. Plus plasmas are supposed to have true blacks and much richer colors and have a larger viewing range.
Thanks
