Whaha. I refuse to give a serious comment on this thread untill the OP has written out exactly how he could have inserted a CPU without opening the lever, without bending any pins, and causing a burn mark on another CPU. How much mobo's are we talking about in the first place? Did you try one first and then the other? It sounds like you put 2 CPU's on top of each other and mounted the cooler on top of that, wich would be hilarious and very sad.
Thanks for all your replies, ofcourse this was an accident. I always read up on these things carefully and i knew what to do, i just screwed up this time. I dont know how it got there, its only a tiny little bit. Ill get some alcohol tomorrow and clean it off.
Thanks, ill try the alcohol and something like a little brush. I have no reason to believe the CPU was fried, the computer didnt short and there was no burning smell. If it doesnt work after cleaning ill just sent it back.
In my own stupidity i got thermal paste on the wrong side of my i7 CPU, so its on the gold plated parts. Gladly my computer didnt short but it couldnt find the CPU on startup. Any suggestions on how to clean the paste off the CPU?
