New Computer + Digital Camera = ..................

This is me on about 4 hrs worth of sleep. You can tell that I'm using all my willpower just to keep my left eye open.

This is Smokey my newest cat. As you can see he's claimed my kitchen table as his sleeping area. Unless I want a mouthful of hair I'm better off eating on my bed.

This is what happens when you attempt to eat on the table. I can take a hint.

This is Buddy my older cat that I've had for almost two years. I guess I'll have to eat on the couch tonight. You can also tell that my girlfriend made the bed today. Yay flowers!

More Mob Violence

http://news.bostonherald.com/localRegional/view.bg?articleid=50315

It's amazing how stupid people can be. Is this really how people celebrate? The Red Sox beat the Yankees to go to the World Series so let's celebrate! Hmmm......... let's tip over cars, set them on fire, throw bottles at police, and wield some sign posts like weapons. Woooohoooooo!

Idiots! Then when someone actually gets hurt let's blame the police. Gee, how about we put the blame on the drunks that can't figure out that joining a mob scene full of 80,000 people isn't a good idea. I'm certainly not going to blame the girl who died but shouldn't you have some culpability for putting yourself in a situation like this. If I see a crowd of people filling a street and lighting cars on fire am I going to stand around and watch the "fun" take place. Hell no! I wouldn't even be there in the first place but if for some reason I was I'd be hightailing it out of there so fast you wouldn't even know I was ever there. It's sad when all it takes is someone winning a baseball game to incite a mob. I would probably feel better if this was a Boston thing but the fact is this is a world wide thing. Riots break out all the time at and after sporting events. I'll never understand it I guess.

Some thoughts about my gaming over the weekend.

Well, despite my claims to the contrary I didn’t get around to playing ToS this weekend. Looks like I’ll have to wait until after Fable to finish it off. The reason I didn’t play it this weekend is because I got addicted to Espn NHL 2k5. I played about 15 games Sunday, which is amazing for me anyways. My sports gaming days have been pretty much over for the last 3 years. 2k5 has been really enjoyable thus far though.

On another note I had a chance to play Burnout 3 for a few minutes this weekend at Gamestop. I came away awfully impressed. Racing is another genre that I’ve avoided the last couple years but Burnout 3 is the type of game that can re-ignite that passion. The speed, the thrills…… it’s got it all. My girlfriend had to practically drag me away………. Eh……. lets face it she gave me a dirty look and I knew if I didn’t leave I’d be in for a long day……… I almost didn’t leave though.

I also picked up the newest OPM just for the demo disc. I was interested in the Battlefront demo but I must admit I came away rather disappointed with the game. I try not to put too much stock in bad impressions when it comes to demos though. I did have a rather pleasant surprise with another game demo that I hadn’t even paid attention to before now. That game was Forgotten Realms: Demon Stone. It was surprisingly, for me anyways, top notch. The voice work was amazing and the battle I fought in was really enjoyable. I just put it in my games to be tracked. Well, that’s all the thoughts I have for now but overall I had a very enjoyable weekend.

Birthday Aftermath

My birthday was yesterday and despite the gloomy Boston weather it was a pretty good day. I had a nice dinner at home with my girlfriend and the cats. My mother even stopped by, who I’ve gotten along with better since I’ve been on my own, with a card and cake. Anyways, the best part of the birthday is always the presents and this year didn’t disappoint. Here’s what I got this year:

Star Ocean 3
Espn NHL 2k5
Rogue Squadron II
$50 Gamestop card
$25 Barnes and Noble Card (Dark Tower VII here I come)
$65 in cash
A couple of pants and shirts(boring but nice none the less)
A new pair of sneakers

You got to love birthdays. 8)

Fable- General Thoughts

Just some general thoughts on one of the most hyped up games out there the last few years. I try to avoid hype for the most part, so I've avoided all previews and articles out there until about two weeks ago. Everything I've read and seen has definitely got my curiousiity piqued. Maybe it's just me but I'm not approaching this game as being the best rpg ever as Peter (I'd spell his last name but I'd just butcher it) tried to bill it. Honestly, I try not to label any game before I actually play it. I've been playing videogames for 19 years and I honestly couldn't name the best one I've ever played. It's so subjective that if I actually put forth the effort to do so I'd be wasting my time. Every time I'm asked that question a different game pops in my head. Yeah, I know I'm rambling but it's my journal so I'm allowed to ramble a little. :D Anyways, I try to approach each game without any preconcieved notions in my head and this attitude combined with some research has resulted in very few disappointments in the game purchasing department over the years. Bottom line, Fable probably won't be the "Best Rpg of All Time" but I have very few doubts about me actually enjoying the game. Really, in the end that's all that matters to me.
