@uberjannie @Jerian Right, well didnt go into details but obviously im talking about the advantage as being a PC gaming platform not just the steam app which includes your points. Thing is if enough people start using it itl grow, and the hardware support/drivers will follow. ATI already has a driver for Linux. Biggest advantage X has is still direct X. However given a base and hardware games will follow. Look how many are coming out for IOS & Android, granted thats mobile but point is those are OS outside of Redmond. Wont happen overnight but Steam on linux is a good sign that the base/interest for games on linux is on the rise.

Nice, steam on linux means Windows loses the only advantage it has ever had as an OS...very exciting

Honestly I pre-order occasional if I get a break for a game I know im gonna get. Like I knew ME3 was gonna be 60 so when I see a pre-order 47 online I am actually saving a few bucks. But its always within 30 days of release. But now ive been burned, ME3 came with a horrible flaw the dreaded face import glitch. Honestly if I had waited I wouldnt have paid for that until they fixed it. Lesson learned

Just started today...was rudely smacked in the face with the "Im sorry you cant import your characters face" No big deal just make a new one...still excited to finish the series but I have 3 characters that are awaiting transfer and no way am i gonna try and re-create them all again...so I wait for a patch..and wait and wait...

Im gonna laugh myself silly if my HD 6900 is more powerful then the "NEW" GPU's for these next consoles...great thing about being PC gamer no wait for next gen..

This comes to me as ironic, not long ago I was reading over and over again that consoles meant the end of PC gaming. Then im reading that Smartphones will kill off Handheld gaming devices like PSP and 3DS...I think what there forgetting is that theres enough of a market for all of them. Oh yeah, and PC is alive and well btw

A good example of this in the US was when The Witcher hit. Imported the UK copy that wasnt censored. Seems Violence in Europe is main issue whereas Sex is no biggie but opposite in the States..find that amusing
