Sophia Tong made a guess at who this character is. If you guess what she said, I might just mail it out to you. :P But, be sure to respond with who it actually is. That means you'll post two answers.
Example: "I think sophia said NEMO from the game, but it's ___ (character name) from the ____ (game name). "
The picture came from David Toole's box of goodies he left us last year. It's a framed picture that has a signature on the right bottom corner.
I wanted to let you all know that Lark has updated the community news announcement about ways you can earn more points towards your level. Some of you have already voted in the Webby awards and will receive the bonus points. We have some other ways you can earn even more. However, points won't be handed out until we know the winners on May 5th (it's a one time points hand out for each account). Check out the updated portion on the community page for further details.
Stayed up until the wee hours to get the final video footage of the Harmonix party up for you guys. There is a compiled video of majority of the bands that played. The videos were taken by my Sony H50 digital camera. Sadly, my battery kept dying on me so I missed some footage and pictures.
Here are some pictures.
The stage
Wedgewu singing Panick Attack
AlexN owning someone as always
This drummer made an awesome face.
Ray Almeda (Sega) singing Living on a Prayer
Tracy, Guy, Vinny, Jody (thx Aaron!)
Freaky shutter speed shot of wedge
I also uploaded some other pictures. I'll upload about 10 more pictures later tonight; unless I pass out from exhaustion. :P You all owe me a double espresso mocha!
I also need to figure out what type of shutter speed and ISO settings are best for taking pictures in this kind of lighting. Any suggestions?
Last night I posted a video of the Harmonix Rock Band Party finale. The video shows when they started singing but there was an intro that was quite hilarious. I was too exhausted to edit the videos I took last night. But that intro was awesome because everyone was anticipating what song would be revealed.
I have some other pictures that I took. Still learning the ropes on ISO settings and shutter speeds. I'll see if I can post an update later tonight with some pics and videos. It was a fun time had by everyone who attended. I just hope I can share the excitement!
Other than college soaking up my free time, photography has given me a desire to explore the outdoors. I've also been in a mood to attend festivals of all kinds. Last weekend I finally went to the San Francisco Zoo after saying that I would go there for the past 9 years. It is much smaller than the San Diego Zoo, but definitely the second best wild life park I have visited in California and Texas. The week before last I went exploring in some of the San Francisco Golden Gate park areas. That weekend I bumped into some artists painting the dutch windmill and remote controlled boats racing on a small lake.
Why are you talking about non-gaming being so much fun, you say? It's spring time; don't forget that the outdoors can be just as gorgeous as those in-game explorations.
Did anyone have an awesome day yesterday or was it like mine? Just another day? I posted a silly drama video about PS3 and Xbox 360. I've been trying to consider what games to try out on the PS3. The only games I have played on my own time have been shooter focused: Team Fortress 2, Resistance 2 and Call of Duty 4.
I kind of don't want to play a game that I have already played on the Xbox 360. The idea is to find a game that feels new and attractive, which will allow me to avoid analyzing it. Other than LittleBigPlanet (played for about 15 mins after release and need to give it another try *hides*) are there any other games I should consider? I heard that Flower has been on everyone's awesome list as of recent.
GS staff have a three day holiday weekend, but being a community manager a day off usually means I am still checking up on everyone here. :)
It's been different without the community crew like Bethany, Sondra and Don working here anymore. The tournament area has been invaded by the Hardware peeps! I still have the goodies for game nights, tournaments and live events though.
The week before last I moved over to Editorial and now the candy I usually have hidden in the tournament room is going to be devoured. I have two videos I made about a typical day at GameSpot before the move and have some other neat stuff worth sharing.
Part 1 shows a normal day to work, the day before the move and the day of the move.
Part 2 is full of action. I have no idea why these two ladies were standing in a distance from their honking SUV at 3am in the morning. Watch towards the end to see GameSpot Staff and Sophia's homemade sackboy.
On another note, where did the community game nights go?I keep getting messages about this. If I ask Kevin one more time I think he's going to yell. As you all very well know, he is way too nice to yell at anyone.
I would love to run game nights to relieve Kevin of this duty, but Tuesdays don't work for me because I have class. I am hoping to convince Kevin to change it to Wednesdays; my night off from school. I use those nights to study. I'll pester him again about it next week. Sorry for the delays!
UPDATE: For those of you who just want to see the Staff skit I clipped out the video for you. After clipping this part of the video it was under 100mb to upload on GS. Here it is:

UPDATE 2: Had a few peeps ask about the online communities map. It was a 2007 map that Bethany brought in one day to work. Here is a link to a blog that has a picture of it. I would be interested in finding a map for 2009.
One of the Nintendo twitter places I follow happened to link an interesting blog post about ways Nintendo and PlayStation 3 can improve in some areas. Sure, I was never a Xbox 1 fanatic. I loved Nintendo then Sega and then PS1/2. When it comes to online stuff, I have noticed the Xbox 360 has some interesting benefits for people who want to mingle with others online. I do think that the PS3 has the best looking games though. But the point here is online interaction. Being a huge multiplayer fanatic even in the C&C and Quake 1 early days, Xbox Live still has a lot of perks for today's standards involving community interaction.
So, think about it for a moment. Erase all of the amazing single player games from your mind on the way they look, feel and play. Now focus on community online interaction with others through a multiplayer environment... now think about this. What can all of these places change when it comes to community and multiplayer interaction (including MS)?
Last night I tried out the Lips game. I have mixed feelings about the game. Hrm. Yeah, I love and hate it right now.
I also spent some time editing my XBL avatar. The first time I made her she didn't look anything like me other than having red hair. She looks a bit more like me although her hair is shorter. I gave her a bit more weight too. :P
