John Stewart and my political views!

I was watching the daily show earlier today and realized that i've never really thought long and hard about my political views. Now I have I thought I'd discuss them in a blog which anyone is free to debate anything I say, which I guess means I am for free speech!:D

Issues...Issues...Issues?

Abortion, Drug Legalization, the Democratic system, war in Iraq, Nuclear weapons, the UN, global warming and the shape of the world in years to come. Issues...Issues..Issues.

Right abortion...this was actually straight forward for me. I am pro-abortion. I believe that a woman should have the right to decide what to do with their bodies although only up to a certain point. Abortions at 6 months would be a crazy idea, so there needs to be a firm set of rules.

Drug Legalization...I am pro. I believe that laws that make criminals out of millions of everyday citizens worldwide aren't very good ones and the money spent prosecuting this drugged out individuals could be better spent putting real criminals behind bars. Take a page out of the dutch book. Legalize certain drug use. 1. For medical use 2. For personal use, if the government has control of drug circulation then its taking it out of the criminals hands. I believe the same concept applies to prostatution where legalization would benefit people far more than keeping it illegal. Mandatory health checks could be enforced which would limit the spread of sexually transmitted diseases.

Next up...Democracy...It should take on more aspects of the british system. A british prime minister has a non limited stay meaning if things are going well then continued progress can be made. An 8 year maximum term with at least 2 years devoted to getting re-elected isn't enough time to make significant change.

Next...War in Iraq...Getting rid of Saddam would have been a good thing if it wasn't for the reasoning. Declaring war to remove a genocidal dictator would have been reasonable but lying about WMD's in order to gain a foothold in the middle east and control of oil reserves. Not good!

Nukes...America doesn't want anyone to have them. Perhaps setting an example by disarming the thousands of nukes in the U.S would be a positive step.

The UN, ineffective, the worlds just not ready for a democratic world body.

Global warming is a real threat that most scientists believe in but right wing industrialists would prefer people to not believe. It doesnt take a harvard degree to notice global warming. Rising temps., radical weather patterns, etc. The signs are there, you just need to read them.

The world of tommorrow. America is the rome of today but like the roman empire or more recently the british empire it will eventually fall. The power of tommorrow lies in China and Africa as well as the advancements being made in Japan. Having lived in Asia for most of my life I may be a little biased but you can see the power shifting. Btw, to all tv.com members, if you've ever seen Shanghai and Hong Kong on TV with the shanty towns, the straw hats, the triad gun fights, the street markets, etc My god, is that a load of bull. If you want to know the real HK and China, its very different. In line with the USA with have all the technology etc over here that you do over there. In fact the HK skyline is mostly skyscrapers. HK is like Coruscant in Star Wars. If you want to know what I mean about this kind of rascist perception in TV a great example would be the episode of Smallville set in China. Hilarious how stupid it was!

Anyways that was my political rant.

My Weekly Speech: Coming out of the Sci-Fi closet!

I've been thinking about my blogs. I already have my weekly top ten tour and my newly added weekly quotes so now I am adding a new segment my weekly speeches. They will most likely be stupid but who knows maybe from time to time I'll make an awe-inspiring comment!:D Probably not, anyways...

I've tried so long to hide the truth but now I say no more! I am a Sci-Fi nerd and proud to be one. No longer shall we see the days of Sci-Fi nerds being persecuted for their beliefs and down trodden because they are different. No longer shall a Sci-Fi nerd have to pretend his favourite movie is American Beauty when really he's a die hard Star Wars fan. No longer shall we see that never ending divide between nerds and jocks and geeks and athletes! I see a tommorrow where little nerds and little jocks stand hand in hand!

:D

Stay tuned next week for my next speech!

Schweet!

I just jumped 2 levels and got my first 2 editorships, i'm just waiting now for more to be processed. Next stop, world domination? MUHAHAHAHAAHA!

Lauren Graham on Studio 60

Lorelai was on Studio 60, big moment, made me sit back in my chair. Considering she's reaching 40, she is still incredibly attractive. My Mrs. Robinson!:D
