[QUOTE="Jonahirt"]Sure. You can take a Honda Civic and make it perform well, but it'll still never be a Mercedes. RyviusARC
The difference is that the mercedes has different parts.
A mac laptop uses the same hardware as a windows laptop.
Not even sure why I am replying to an obvious troll......
I don't get how wanting to by a superior product is trolling. If Macs weren't superior people wouldn't buy them. Everyone uses a Mac these days. Walk into Starbucks and at any given time 3/4 of all the laptops in use are Macs. Windows 8 is being laughed at by just about everyone. If anything is obvious it's that Mac is the future of personal computing.[QUOTE="Jonahirt"]Alright so I've been using a Samsung RV520 laptop for the last year that I got for about $350 at Best Buy and lately have been getting annoyed by it. It works alright for most things, but I've been in the mood for something better. So this morning after a fun 12 hours at work I ordered a 13" Macbook Pro 2.5ghz i5, upgraded to 8gb RAM and it came to about $1,400 (with tax and an accessory) (probably should've just gotten the $1,499 version which is a 2.9ghz i7, 8gb and a larger hard drive, but oh well). So my question is, what exactly will I notice with this presumable much better laptop? I mean it's $1,000 more than what I'm using now, and I know some of that is for the name, but from what I've heard MacBooks are exceptional machines. I don't do a whole lot of PC gaming other than WoW and Diablo III, but I should notice an improvement there right? This has 4gb of RAM and an Intel HD Graphics card and a i3 2.1 ghz processor. So what difference will the 8gb RAM and 2.5ghz (with 3.1ghz turbo boost whatever that means) make? I've heard the Intel HD 4000 card in the 13" MacBook isn't really that good. Is that true? I've never used a Mac before but I feel like now's the time to give it a try. For $1,400 it's got to be pretty decent right? Thanks for any advice. I'm just curious mainly as to what differences I'll see in performance, for gaming and various other activities. I'll probably have more questions as I wait for the thing to arrive. Ordered it this morning with the 2-3 day shipping, however it hasn't shipped yet :( RyviusARC
Lol I recently got my step sister a laptop with better performance for 550USD.
It was a Lenova ThinkPad E430 with an intel i5 at 3.1ghz, HD4000 with 4gb of RAM (upgraded it myself to 8gb for around 20USD).
It only had a 500gb hard drive but it was 7200RPM unlike a lot of laptops which use 5400RPM.
It has a spill proof keyboard, a nice rubber trackpoint stick for the mouse control and a finger print reader.
It also runs relatively cool and can last around 7-8 hours while using the battery.
So it's cheap and performs slightly better than the laptop you mentioned and it has good build quality.
Sure. You can take a Honda Civic and make it perform well, but it'll still never be a Mercedes.Would have had the same windows laptop for at least 500$ lessMonsieurXYes, but I'm tired of Windows. Windows is going downhill, and I feel like just about every PC out there is a cheaply made, mass produced pile of crap. Maybe it's because I just finished reading Steve Jobs' biography and have always been an Apple fanboy at heart, but I just felt a calling to get a Mac. I like the way they look and feel. I use my 360 for 90% of my gaming needs, the only thing I do on PC is WoW and Diablo which both have Mac clients. Also I've read reviews saying that running bootcamp or whatever and booting to Windows still wields pretty decent performance on many PC games, so I'm assuming I could do that and fool around with my Steam library which is mostly older games that I don't play often (Fallout 3, New Vegas, etc, which I have on the 360 anyway). I worked 72 hours this week and felt like I owed myself something premium, and I think when people see a MacBook they always equate it with a high class experience or something. Or at least I always have. So yeah, maybe I just want that shiny white case and Apple logo.... But I have heard that Mac's perform better than equivalent PC's on a lot of functions. For example, rendering a video on this laptop is a slow, laggy and painful process. I'm assuming the MacBook will handle video editing and processing much better, right?
