[QUOTE="K4ss3r"]I'd wait a few months honestly. That way, you can join World of Warcraft closer to the release of the new expansion pack and start leveling up etc. And, in a few months you'll know more about how SWTOR is. Don't fall for the hype of MMO's, very few remain succesful. I mean, Rift was hyped up, AoC was and so was Warhammer. They all fell a bit flat, some more than others. You'd be safer off just waiting, and then making a decision.

I agree with that, but none of the above mentioned titles had as many pre orders going into the release, as well as the Star Wars franchise backing it up and Bioware. I don't care what the haters say, they are all talking out of their arses if you ask me.

Garbage? LOL. Who are you? This is a thread about SWTOR. You started off discussing the Gamepro review, but that doesn't mean everyone else must discuss only that. Johnny, like me, has been a member here for almost 10 years. Don't even start telling us how to post or ordering us to "blog" it rather than share it here.

THA-TODD-BEAST

I'm willing to bet my life-savings that it will not fail. It has over 1 million pre-orders already.

I'm going to predict that the majority will likely unsubscribe the moment they get sick of it and realize it's just like so many other MMOs. Even with the large number of pre-orders, I just can't see it doing well.

Your basing this assumption off of what? I'm pretty sure, reading your two posts, you are just a negative Ned. If you said it's going to fail... back it up with more. You can't even sit here and really tell me that most of the people playing SWtoR are ex WoW players. Where are the facts? Also have you even played the beta? If you have, please let me know... other than that, 10 years or not, your opinion is ish to me.

The game is fantastic... I'm not sure the haters are playing the same game I am. It's definitely a breath of fresh air. The story driven campaign that is driven by your choices makes it a unique MMO experience. Given the fact that they didn't have to take away from the MMO element, such as instances, open world dynamics, and so on make this game even more amazing. IMO the instances even excel from the story driven aspect. Being able to have cut scenes that better explain why you are there and why you are about to embark on this adventure is great. Not to mention the fact that the options you and your teammates decide to roll with dictate how that instance plays out. It's all brilliant... I have no doubt, seeing it's an EA game, there will be loads more added on all the time. This game will be supported from day 1 and will not stop till the servers are shut off. PVP looks great and hey... it makes sense. The Empire vs. the Republic... that's a constant battle that has lasted centuries. Horde vs. Alliance is cool, but to many times do you see them brought together. It's a buzz kill. Overall, I'm very happy I pre-ordered this game. It delves deeper into my childhood memories. Nothing better than swinging a light saber around to the classic Star Wars music we all love. You wanted to be a Jedi and fight the evil Empire? DId you want to be a Sith Warrior and say... I'm the most evil BAMF in the galaxy... this is your chance. You get to prove your worth to the Empire or Republic, and there is no better way to do it!!

My impressions on the beta:

Pros:

Solid and smooth frame rate.

Cinematics are absolutely gorgeous.

UI is top notch.

Game feels very polished.

Good animations.

Cons:

Graphics. Even on the highest settings, textures, lighting and shadows look quite bland compared to other MMOs like Rift, AOC and EQ2.

Character models anvironments lack detail and depth. I felt like I am in toy story world interacting with plastic toy models. Environment felt very limited, flat and plasticy.

Combat gets repetitive and bland after a while.

I'll wait and see how the final game turns out. So far, I am not impressed.

fun-da-mental
The beta didn't allow adding AA or changing the texture from low to hi resolution... so there's that to look forward to with the retail release.

Yea... Lucky you guys... I'm also having all the above problems. The game would launch, but then crash 5 minutes later. Then I started getting the message I was kicked by admin. Now I can't even get into a game without it "stopped working". Co-Op worked great.... then it crashed. I miss the days where you bought a game, and it was a finished product. Sigh.... I'll just be eating my depression away now.

I pre-loaded my copy through Origins and just wanted to see what would happen if I clicked the game. So I get a message saying my game won't be available until 0300. I know 0300 means 3 am. What's the deal? Can I not play the game until 3? I thought with the midnight launch and everything at 1201 I would be playing. Can anyone confirm this or give me some peace of mind on this?

Thanks in advance.
