@LukeAntoniasse @Steba93 Real funny of you to say that 'coz Champions Online is like my go-to MMO whenever I'm in the mood to create another character! LOL. But seriously though -- for those who've never given it a chance -- CO may be a couple of years old now, but its character creation/customization features are second to none, even when takin into account big-budget pay-to-play MMOs.
>>Maybe you should try it and decide, it's free after all... lol
That's not necessarily true though, @LukeAntoniasse . Monetarily, yeah, it's free, but just like most other things in life, ya have to pay for it in other ways. Like your time and energy, and not to mention more practical matters like your electricity & Internet access bills, LOL.
However, with that said, I'm not totally vain (LAWL). So if the gameplay's really that good, sure, you guys've convinced me, I'll take it for a spin or two. ;)
Dudes, I NEVER said that you can't play it without a joystick or whatever the heck you have. Duh! LAWL. Of course, you can play almost anything with a keyboard & a mouse. Even racing games & fighting games! Why the hell not, right?
But when it comes to simulations, especially SERIOUS sims, controlling your mech or fighter or whatever with a joystick/flight controller is ideal. Just like a racing wheel controller is ideal for racing games, and a gamepad is ideal for fighting and sports games.
But with that said, yeah, MWO is far from being a serious sim, as I & many others have pointed out. So if you think you're "better off" with your keyboard & mouse and you're more comfortable just "FPS"-ing it, hey, go for it. You don't know what you're missin', but by all means, knock yourself out.
I've been playin in the closed beta (you wouldn't believe the funny story of how I got in).
It's not bad. Especially if you're a fan of the series like me. With that said, it's NOT for everybody, especially newbies or casual gamers. It may not be the best the giant-mech simulation subgenre has to offer, but yes, it is still a sim. And though I'm a mech sim veteran, I find it odd that I didn't even see a "boot camp" function or refresher course.
And oh, don't forget to bring a joystick or some similar controller with you, you're gonna need it.
@master_zidane "more comfortable in making MMOs". If you're implying that they're skilled at makin' MMO's, and you have proof, okay, I won't contest that claim as I have no opinion either way. But it still doesn't matter. They obviously didn't have the resources, or they WOULD have made it into an MMO in the first place. Has this fact changed? Apparently, not.
Exactly. I kinda liked Amalur's gameplay TBH, but goin' from a debut SINGLEPLAYER game to a full-blown MMO next, WHILE tryin to survive financially? Come on. Seriously.
