GTX295 - if you want the best, 4870X2 - best bang for buck (XFX card is now £235), 4890 - Perfectly adequate for your resolution if you are on a budget (£140). Personally I would go for a pair of 4890 in Crossfire (£280 and have a set-up equal or better than GTX 295). Good luck, it's pleasant problem you have ;o)

It's fine - my system which has the power hungry 4870X2 pulls 525watts at the wall when maxed out on Furmarks- the GTX 260 is far more efficient so you should be fine

I have a Noctua NH-U12P (push/pull set-up) and get 4.33Ghz on my E8500 so I can recommend this but I have read that the Titan Fenrir (TTC-NK85TZ) is even better.

If you can afford it then definitely i7, even the 920 can overclock to 4Ghz. Coupled with triple channel memory and you have a winning formula. If you have a smaller budget (like me) then a dual core is perfectly adequate for gaming, a E8400 or E8500 will easily overclock to 4Ghz . XFX 4870X2 (2nd fastest card on the market today) is currently being sold of cheap to make way for 4890X2/5800; so for a modest budget you can run everything smoothly up to 1920x1080.

Everest has a memory specific benchmarking tool but unfortunately it is not free. To test the overclockability of your ram; Memtest+86 is good as it will find errors if you are running outside the capability of your ram/settings.

Ok, thanks. So if you only have one ddr2 ram chip instead of 2 chips, it wont be ddr2?mark30001

DDR2 is the second generation of DDR ram, the current gen is DDR3. If you have one chip youwill be running in single channel but it always be DDR2. WRT running in dual channel this iscommon practice and in essence doublesyour bandwidth thus highly recommended.

Depends on what you play and at what resolution. If it's Crysis Warhead (Enthusiast setting) at 2560x1600 then no, if Lemmings at 640x480 then yes ;o)

If it's a single GPU card you want and cost is not a big issue then I think you have made the right choice. The GTX 285 with 55nm GPU is a good overclocker typically 720/2700 and you still have the option of SLi.
