I was thinking about cheats the other day, and how damn commonplace they are. I remember when cheat codes were something you wouldn't be able to guess in a million years, and you had to wait for your favourite games magazine to come out with it years after the game release.
May favourite all-time cheat has to be the master cheat for Star Wars: Shadows of the Empire on the Nintendo 64. Not only could you not guess that cheat in a million years, in some cases you needed an accomplice in order to pull it off. It sort of goes like this:
Rename your profile as 'Wampa Stompa'Pause the game at any time during a level and hold down the following buttons: Z, R, L, Left on the d-pad and all the C buttons. If you remember the good old N64 controller you may realise how taxing this is onit's own to pull off. Clumsy fingers will not do here. Whilst holding down these buttons you've now got to move the joystick either to the left or to the right halfway and hold it there for about a second waiting for a 'donk' noise. Release all the buttons and do it again this time holding the joystick halfway in the other direction. Repeat until the damn cheat menu comes up, then try to figure out how to use it with the shoulder buttons.
Back when I played this game I had no friends with any sort of interest in this cheat, so I remember having to move that damn joystick with my chin. I couldn't tell if it was halfway or not. I'd sit there for minutes sometimes in a sweat puddle waiting for the 'donk' noise.
Nowadays you just plug in the konami code and you're off...eddylives
This is exacting what I thought about when I read your topic. I remember trying this for like 15 moinutes and finally gettting it to work. I had my little brother hold some of the buttons for me. My controller's joystock was also used a lot and this made it even harder. I eventually could do it pretty consistently though. Man, that game was fun now that i think about it.
CoD sounds awesome. AC looks great too.
I think it just comes down to the ESRB on that day. Realy. I mean did you know you can kill 5000 people at one time and get a T. But if you can kill more than 5000 you get an M. WTF? This is what happened to Lair. I think its time to get a new rating system. Whos with me!
