[QUOTE="KenpachiSama"]

If they don't region-lock it, that means less consoles will be sold - technically. If an American wants Japanese games (without being illegal), they must buy a Japanese console to play them. This goes for Europeans more than anyone. I have a few friends from England who have American and Japanese Wii's, because games take so long to come out in Europe and it's honestly cheaper to import them from America than it is for them to buy it in England.

Think about that though. Nintendo didn't just make $250 (ideally) from one person. They made $500 by having them buy two systems. To think if someone only needed to buy one console that played all regions, it would cut back a lot of the major sales for the company. Even though a majority of their sales come from the games, the consoles play a huge part because they need their used money back.

aransom

They don't region lock the Wii so they can get people to buy more than one Wii, that's crazy talk!! If that were the case they would release every game in only one region, but they don't. Popular games get released in every region. They don't have some sinister reason for not releasing certain games in certain regions, some games just aren't popular enough to make it worth the cost it takes to put them out in certain markets. Look at all the Japan-only videogames. Do you think they don't release them in the US to get back at us for kicking their butts in WWII? It's because they don't think they'll sell well. You mention that it's cheaper to import North American games than buy European games. You're feeling the bite of European socialism, and EU regulations.

Hahaha. I can't believe the ignorance of your post. Look, it truly is all about money. If it wasn't a marketing idea, then why didn't they just let it be region-free like the Nintendo DS? If I had the ability to only have 1 Wii that was region-free, my Nintendo-life would be golden, as I'm sure a LOT of other people would be happy about as well. But the fact of the matter is that Nintendo does make more money by region-coding. People ARE stupid enough to buy more than one system for different regional games (I did). PAL owners want NTSC-J games. NTSC owners also want NTSC-J games. The ability to own a NTSC-J region Wii gives you the opportunity to also use their Wii Shopping Channel, which consists of a LOT of games that have never made it to North America. Nintendo could have simply made it easy on everyone by freeing the region-coding of the Wii so it would have the importing success of the DS, but that would cut back on the possibility of selling extra systems and extra games (that might sound bogus, but run some numbers and see the difference).

From a business perspective, it's smart to be selfish. And that's that.

I'm going to wait until I hear some feedback. I'm not about to spend $60 on a game that is bad or mediocre. If I'm spending that kind of money, I want a SOLID game... like Halo 3 or Gears of War.

[QUOTE="KenpachiSama"]NES to SNES was by far the best for me. I had probably over 200 games combined from the systems, and it was because of those two systems that I will NEVER give up on Nintendo. NEVER.pro_gamer12345

wow over 200 games??? amazing

Yeah, I know. When I thought about it, I was even shocked. I went through a list and checked off all the games I had, and it actually was 214 (probably more). hahaha.

As for now, I only have 1 game for XBox 360, 6 for the Wii, 5 Gamecube, 2 PSP, and 7 DS. 5 systems combined for only 21 games. There's just something sad about that. Games really don't have the replay value that they used to have, and the other problem I see is that games don't have lasting value. I remember when I was 13 and I beat Little Nemo on the NES, I did NOT want to let anyone borrow it because I felt that I really did "own" the game. I beat a game now (or sometimes not even) and I want to get rid of it as fast as I can - because if I wait, the game will be worthless.

That's my final rant on this topic. hahaha.

And besides, Nintendo of America and Nintendo (the Japanese company) are somewhat separate. I'm sure they would like their own income, and what importing does is take away sales from one another. It's selfish, but business people have to think that way.

It's true. It's science.

I have no idea where to find the music, but I have to say that the Shop Channel music always gets stuck in my head for hours after I hear it. I don't know why it's so catchy.JordanElek

Dude! I want the Shop Channel music on mp3! It would be on my iPod in a second. hahaha.

But yeah. There's no such thing as a Wii Menu music option... yet. ;)
