[QUOTE="KingCotton462"][QUOTE="Painballz"]They can't pirate the game as easy.
They want to be able to just download the game from some torrent and then jump on multiplayer free of charge without having to use cracked servers
They stuff, like what about the people with internet, who the heck has a gaming PC with no internet.

Many 'Pirates' torrent the game just to demo it and ultimately helps make the decision to buy.
As for the people with no internetz, well the majority of PC gamers originate from poorer countries and can barely afford dail up.
People who pirate games, will play on private servers instead of buying the game and are you serious about that second comment? Nvidia won company of the year in 07
Th best selling PC games require 56k or lower, you know I'm right with my statements.

[QUOTE="KingCotton462"][QUOTE="gamer620"][QUOTE="jangojay"][QUOTE="cobrax25"]what kind of person buying Mass effect on the PC isnt gonna have access to the internet?gamer620
My cousins is currently living in a part of my country where the high internet service hasn't arrived yet he was going to buy this game but I am going to make him away of this before he does.
Whats the problem with logging in for 1 minute every 5 days to validate a product?
What if you have a busy week or you take a break from playing it for while?
Then when you aren't busy and play it again you validate it... :/ Its not like the product self destructs after 10 days of not registering it... Im sure all your save games are still safely embedded on your harddrive just like any other game. You people are seriously looking to far into this...
Are you worried you will forget you need to register the game because im pretty sure itll flash a notification reminding you :/
Are you guys purposely leaving out the part of not being able to play?

[QUOTE="KingCotton462"]Well, it'll probably be a bother to poorer PC gamers or those who like to game on laptops.
Personally PC Dev's should stop bothering with protection and just be flattered that people love playing their games, the platform is profitable enough to not have drm's...

Are you a fakeboy, All I see you do is bash PC
Where's the bashing? I love PC gaming, but I do NOT overhype it like most of the hermits here.

From the article:
Chris Priestly, BioWare's community communications coordinator, confirmed that if players do not register Mass Effect online on a consistent basis they will not be able to play this single player game. This will "massively affect" enthusiasts with no internet connection looking to play BioWare's critically acclaimed action RPG. Mandatory online registration has seen its fair share of outrage in the past with fans crying foul over Half-Life 2 forcing users to register the single player game online back in 2004.
Bioware has therefore made an active internet connection a game requirement. Priestly elaborates on the logistics at the official Mass Effect forums:
"If you buy MEPC, install and run the game the game will register automatically and you are good to play.
After 5 days the next time you start the game the system will automatically try to register. If you are connected to the internet, it will occur without you even knowing it and reset the 10 days.
If you are not connected to the internet, you can keep playing for the next 5 days. As you start each day, the system will keep trying to validate. If it connects and validates, the 'clock' is reset.
If the system cannot connect to the internet after the 10 days, you will not be able to play MEPC until you are connected to the internet. Once you reconnect to the internet and try to play, it will re-validate and you can play as normal for another period of 10 days as before.
mm, rather inconvenient if you ask me...
