Ugh..............

I haven't updated in Forever, but whatever. Anyway, stuff. My mom quickly got the Potter game when it was released, and since I always setup her games before she runs them (on PC anyway), I had a chance to play through the new Potter Game. If you read the GameSpot review and want to find credibility in it, just forget it. GameSpot completely missed the marked on that review. The Harry Potter game is the best of the 5 out there, and also happens to be a pretty fun game at the same time. I wouldn't say to run out and buy it, but it certainly shouldn't be passed over if it is in your presence. I also got F-Zero X on VC, along with Sonic and Golden Axe on Live. I was surprised that Golden Axe was the arcade version, but I honestly would prefer that one any day. The online play is also flawless, and the graphics are cleaned up enough to keep you from getting eye cancer, so that is definitely worth the $5. Sonic is just Sonic. It's hard to beat that at $5, but you can get it most anywhere in a collection with 25 other games for $20.

Majora's Mask I flopped in. I haven't picked it up in god knows how long, and I just can't seem to get involved in it. I know that if I don't beat it before the summer is out, I'm definitely going to when I get back to school. I'm not bringing any games with me, and just my PC, so I'll only have the emulator to screw around with. I will beat the rest of the Zelda series this year though, I only have 5 left (with the DS one included).

Tomb Raider was great, and very exciting, and etc. I beat it, and was surprised that the ending went all ape *%^$ with action. The puzzles weren't that great in the last few areas either, but the rest of the game makes up for the lackluster ending. It was definitely a good feeling though to be playing a Tomb Raider game that was good for once. I need to get Legend.

Dark Crusade I need to play. My PC is a bastard, so it works when it feels like it. I got through Harry Potter and Tomb Raider, and then my PC acted up again. If I get it stable, I'll definitely give Dark Crusade a stab. The same goes for STALKER, though I probably won't play that until I get a new PC with Vista.

Decade

Well, time for another update. I finally picked up Tomb Raider on PC. Boy is it great. It's just too bad my PC has to be a pain in the ass at the moment. I'll figure something out, as I'm pissed with IRQ_NOT_LESS_OR_EQUAL. Like hell some new RAM worked. I picked up Viva Pinata for a discount price at CompUSA. It's achievements are extremely easy, they just require time. There are points in the game where everything can become hectic though. You just need to take your shovel and pound some Pinatas till they stop bickering. Froza is good, Guitar Hero is stalled, and blah.

Tomb Raider really makes a comeback with Anniversary. I took the time to find the demo for the PC version of Legend in High Res, but the performance was terrible. I was surprised at how similar the two are, but yet how anniversary takes a slower, more puzzle oriented place. This isn't a problem, as the gunplay isn't that spectacular and that I enjoy puzzles a lot more.

Majora's Mask has been coming decently. Since it's a ROM on my PC, I get frequent crashes, so my progress gets halted at times. I did manage to complete the third dungeon with all the stray fairies, but I died at the boss. I then took the time to get the damage upgrade and seek out 5 pieces of heart and the adult wallet. I should be fine now, as I have 10 heart pieces without beating the temple boss. You wouldn't believe how many times I had to get the Gilded Sword before my PC stopped acting like a *****.

I played a small bit more of Donkey Kong Country 2 with my friend, and we're now at the final boss. It doesn't start so bad, but it gets ridiculously hard just like the first game's boss. Some of the final levels in DKC2 are just sadistic. I wouldn't have the game any other way though, as stupid easy would ruin some of the value.

Forza 2 has some decent achievements. At first glance it seems impossible, but once you actually start racing, it becomes a matter of time before you can get all of them. It will definitely take me years to finish the time trials, but the career I should be able to finish in another 150 hours. Just thinking about how long that is makes this game worth it's $60 price point. You can read the GameSpot review for the specifics, but Forza is just great.

Viva Pinata is an great game, even if it can be repetitive. The achievements are stupid easy, but they take a lot of time. Obviously the 50 hour achievement is the hardest, but I don't even have the 10 hour one yet, so I don't need to worry. Gears also has new achievements, 3 of which I can get without buying the map pack. I say screw it, as it's still going to be free in September. Damn Microsoft. I wish Epic could just put them out for free for like an hour, and let us cheap ******** get in on the fun. Whatever, its Microsofts fault.

Done....

Children of Gaming

Another blog post from good ol KingSigy. I haven't really been keeping up with many games now. With Guitar Hero finally in my hands, I've spent most of my time sitting in my room on the 360. I go downstairs to give Super Mario World a play for a few hours on VC, and Donkey Kong Country. I also manage to put in a Wii Fitness event, but nothing else really. PokeMon is almost finished, and Majora's Mask I've barely started in. I also just got Forza, so who the hell knows when I'll get around to even beating Paper Mario.

Forza is a great game, but from everything I've heard its essentially the first game in HD. I never had the first, so I can careless if I was buying it again. I like the game though, a lot, even though it bares resemblance to PGR3 like crazy. At least it runs in 720p, not like PGR which defaulted to 480p on my monitor. I can't stand that crap.

I just got my hands on that Tomb Raider demo for PC. It runs supremely well on my 4 year old hunk of crap, with graphics at max and res at 1280x720. The controls are extremely smooth with the 360 gamepad, and the vibration is not disrupting like SCDA on PC. Some of the effects are just outright amazing, like jumping in the water and emerging completely drenched. More games should employ that.

Guitar Hero I've hit a point where I'm too good for Medium, but not good enough for Hard. I've been getting better, and I got 5 stars on Strutter and Mr. Fix it on Hard, but everything else is pretty much 3 star bs. I just use star power and hit whatever is possible for me, instead of strumming like an idiot hoping to get a note. I'm able to hit that orange note easily, its just I can't manage to comprehend everything coming at me. I put the Hyper Speed cheat on to train my eyes to look at things coming faster, but that didn't help my skill at all. I can at least read whats coming at me though.

I still have no purple roses in Animal Crossing. I just want my stupid Peacock Butterfly. That will just leave me with the ant and Dung Beetle to catch (I stupidly let the Dung Beetle escape me this winter). I don't even know how to get the ant. I've left garbage laying around the town, and I still didn't get the thing. A fly came instead. Where is my stupid ant?

Well...I've run out of words.

Return of Gannon

With Zelda 2 now under my belt, Gannon is begging me to destroy him in the two remaining GBC Zelda games and then finally Wind Waker. That will have to wait though, as Majora's Mask is my next task. I started it awhile back, before getting my Wii, hoping to beat it and the first two before ever touching Twilight Princess, but the Wii suddenly fell into my lap, so I had to delay the quest to stop skull kid. I'm sure the moon hasn't crushed Termina.....maybe. Regardless, Zelda 2 actually got pretty frustrating towards the end. The fact that jumping in mid-air and not being able to take an enemies hit is perplexing. The last dungeon was also a bit ill-designed. It had too many repeating rooms and false corners. Once you figured out the main path it became easy, but it was just stupid wasting an hour to do so. Dark Link is also amazingly easy, much more so then the boss before him. I'm not quite sure what Nintendo had in mind for Zelda 2, but I can happily say that I have beaten it.

Wairoware I also beat, and I have been enjoying StarNose and Bungee Buddies with my sister. She finds the game to be the most outrageous thing ever, and I am just amazed at how fast the game can get so we won't be putting that down for awhile. Wii sports is also coming along fine, with my age now staying below 25.

My PC is having some ridiculous problems though. I launch a game and about 5 minutes later my whole system is rebooted. It's annoying to an umpteenth degree, and I'm guessing its a RAM or CPU problem. Here's hoping to summer work, so I can finally put this monster out to pasture.

Paper Mario has been very fun. I left off with my save right before entering the great tree, or whatever, for the second star. The game doesn't seem hard at all, and I haven't even lost a single person in battle yet, so I'm not quite sure if I'll have much of a problem whipping through the game.

Godfather I've nearly abandonned, but I will eventually return to beat it. I just haven't had much interest since I've gotten home. I also gave up on waiting for Zelda 2 on VC, as apparently Nintendo just feels the need to keep American's without the sequel.

GRAW2 has been stupid with ranked matches. I join a game only to get, "Sigy, you need to be level 10 to play". Well, how can I get to level 10 if no one lets me $^&*##^% play? I did download the new map pack though, and its very good. It pretty much adds every level from GRAW1, and also has some variations on the levels included with GRAW2. It's much better then the Rainbow Six content, which should be priced at something like free. Gears also has that map pack for $10, which is just a total waste. It won't be until September 3rd until I get that map pack, as then it will be free, but I don't even think I'll care enough about Gears to want it then.

PokeMon is also coming along well. I have all my PokeMon at lvl 30, with 3 badges and a tremendous collection of worthless wild PokeMon in "Someone's PC". I did find the person who runs that PC though, so it's called Bebe's PC for me now. My sister isn't as far along as am I, so we haven't tried the poffin and underground area's together. We'll get to them though, eventually.

That's about it for now.

The Gaming Empire Strikes Back

Today was a wild day for games with me. It started with GRAW2 in the afternoon, and me getting the Team MVP achievement. Who thought the day could get better? I was delighted to find that my mom had a burning hole in her pocket, so I offered to relieve her of some cash. I got a ton of games, and god am I happy.

I'll start with Oblivion. I bought both The Knights of Nine and Shivering Isles. I have yet to play the Knights of Nine, but the new content in Shivering Isles is outstanding. It may not be on par with the original quest in Oblivion, but the quality given to it is certainly strong. It also lets me play Oblivion again, so that isn't a problem at all.

I also got the two new PokeMon games, Diamond and Pearl. I haven't played the games since Gold and Silver, so my sister and I were perplexed with all the new critters. We obviously don't like them as much, but the game is still quite solid and a nice trip down nostalgia lane.

Warioware is now part of my collection. I was debating that or Super Paper Mario, but I decided on Wario simply because my sister wants to enjoy the ridiculous mayhem that is microgames. I just have to unlock the multiplayer first. It shouldn't take too long.

Even though I didn't get Super Paper Mario, I did find the GCN one, so I settled for that. I had meant to get it 3 years ago, but my thirst for GameCube products was extremely lacking. That was pretty much during the decline of the cube, so you can't blame me that much. I still did get RE4 the next year, so I'm not completely hopeless.

Finally, Zelda 2 has been frustrating. I have simply 1 level left, but not enough skill to get myself to the last dungeon. It's not because the game is a huge challenge, it's mostly because my reflexes suck. I see an enemies attack 4 seconds after it hits me, so I'm dead before I can figure out what to do. The inane way enemies can hit you into lava and water is also a good reason for my lack of completion. I will definitely beat it, as it will leave me with only 4 Zelda games left to beat this year. That is my quest, and I will finish it.

That's about it for now. Just to say, GRAW2 has pathetically easy achievements, so anyone reading this without the Single Player Master achievement should feel ashamed of themselves.

Double Agent

I'm back home in CT, and when I got here, it dawned on me that I never even played Double Agent on PC. I've had the disc since the game came out, but just never took the time to play it. Weird. So I installed that, and to my surprise I have to use my 360 controller to play it. So, in the end, it's the same version as the 360 one, just slightly better looking. My progress on The Godfather has stopped since my dad got hold of the Wii. He plays WiiSports nonstop, so I probably won't get to touch my Wii for awhile. My search for Guitar Hero 2 is pretty much done, since no store anywhere seems to have copies left. Online retailers don't even have copies, so I'm screwed with that until more are shipped. I guess I'll settle for GRAW2.

Animal Crossing Wild World has been coming along great, as I finally caught a Bee (the ones from the trees) and am well on my way to growing from purple flowers to catch a peacock butterfly. I still don't have a Coelacanth, but I guess time will provide.

My Wii Fitness age is crazy. I usually go up in down in the 20's, with my lowest being 68 when I first got the system. I have a few days where I was 30 something, but I'm almost always 28. I guess that's better then being 68.

Oblivion is peaking my interest again, and I need to pick up the expansion. I heard it's fairly long, but looking at the list of the achievements on 360, it makes me wonder if it even is worth it. I don't own the 360 one, but just seeing how all the achievements correspond to 1 new faction, it makes me wonder.

Halo 2 for PC is hitting stores soon, and it makes me want Vista. If not because Vista is good or whatever, I just want the achievements. I'm so stoked for PC achievements and Live support and etc. I can't wait for Splinter Cell 5. I'll get the PC one while my friend gets the 360 one and we'll still be chatting and playing like it was nothing. I know cross platform isn't new, but the Window Live idea is just amazing.

I also reformatted my PC, which dramatically increased the speed and helped my video card. I'm getting 360 level framerates in all my games that look exactly like their 360 counterparts. It's great, seeing as how I've been aching for a new PC. At least now I can hold off for maybe another year, though an X1600 isn't much.

Well, I really have nothing left to write now, so I'll close......Close.

The Third

Well, I finally beat Resident Evil 4. I'm not quite sure why I didn't beat it 2 years ago when I first bought the game. At least I didn't do my normal thing of trading in old games. There are a lot of games now that I wish I still owned. That was me though, back when I was an idiot (more of one then I am now). I'll now resume Godfather so I can beat that by the end of the week.

Zelda 2 I kind of fell off of. I will return to it, but since I heard it will be out for VC, I want to wait for that. I'm not really sure if Zelda 2 is worth $5, but I still want to buy it and play it with a more classic NES controller. I only beat 1 dungeon on my NES effort, so it's not like I stopped with a large portion of the game done. It's too RPG like for the Zelda fan in me, but I will sit through it so that I can say I at least beat it.

Rayman I've also fell out of. It's not bad, its just playing mini-games by yourself gets tiresome. My room mate isn't up for many games, so I'm lucky if I can even get him to play Wii Sports. He does participate in the Vote Channel though, which is completely useless.

UT2004 I've come back to a bit. I'm interested in digging up VCTF maps. Yeah its basically Halo in the Unreal engine for VCTF, but it still has all the balance that Halo misses.  Halo truly is awful, but that's not for discussing now.

Super Paper Mario has me itching for some RPG action. Maybe now I can go back to Zelda 2 and devour it? The game just has the fantastic idea of 2-D 3-D on the fly. That is incredible, even if the game doesn't have it worked out the best way. I'll have better thoughts once I actually own the game.

Animal Crossing has also been poking my interest lately. I switched my town theme and collected a few more fossils. I'm missing only one fish, which you can probably guess (Coelecanth). I still don't have many paintings, but that's because I forget to visit Lyle on Saturday to get Red to appear in my town. I do have 6 of them though, so it's not like a barren warehouse when you step into that area. I also need to get some hybrid flowers going, so I can attempt to catch a Peacock butterfly. I'm surprised this game has lasted me as long as a year, since I usually beat the living hell out of games within minutes. Well, it truly is one of the best DS games, and I'll gladly play it till I die if I have to (I can only hope).

That's it for now. Later

Second

Time for another update. I'm slowly progressing through Resident Evil 4. I just beat the Cheiftan of the village, so that should explain how stupidly far I'm into the game. I just haven't had much time to play it really. I also got the Godfather on Wii and STALKER for PC. STALKER has too many problems at the moment, so I'm halted on beating that, but the Godfather works fine. It's too bad the Wii's graphical capabilities aren't used better in the Godfather, as it looks like a horrible 5 year old PS2 game. Gears also got an update, and I can finally host again, so my friend and I are going to destroy whats left of the 4 hour co-op game on Insane. Gears is really too short, and I still don't understand why any site gave the game scores over a 9. It's pretty much a generic shooter, with the only two features being the cover system and the active reload.

Now, on to specifics. STALKER seems to be great, as the graphics look pretty decent on my 4 year old PC. My PC is no slouch, as I have it loaded with an x1600 AGP 512mb, and a 2800+, but for some reason STALKER won't live for longer then 2 minutes on my PC. I hear the first guy talk about giving me a job, then bam, the desktop comes back. Well, that sucks.

Godfather is a pretty good game, really. The Wii version has the most content, and from what I've heard, plays the best. The controls are outstanding, and they really do help the game get past its standard feel. The game is pretty much a stripped down version of GTA. You just kill, kill and kill some more like some awful Chuck Norris film. That's not so bad though, as the Wii controls give you a sadistic feeling. Choking is the absolute best thing in the game. You throw your arms out, then close together, then proceed to shake the controllers. It gives you a terrible feeling that is just so enthralling. The rest of the combat has some interesting twists, such as throwing, and the aiming for guns has some interesting hooks (such as body-part specific hit boxes).

Call of Duty 3 has given me some crap lately. I can't find a single ranked match on Live, thus eliminating my possibility for some more achievements in that game. It's horrible, really, especially since that game's single player is a load of bull. Live has been extremely slow lately anyway.

Yesterday was my birthday, and the release of the Internet Channel on Wii. It works a lot better then the trial version, and has plenty of RAM cache to help load websites quicker. It's a very nice browser, with just a few features missing that could come in an update.

That's about it for this post. BLAMO!

First Entry

I never even noticed there was a blog on Gamespot. That shows how observant I am. Regardless, welcome to my blog! I will detail my progress through games (old and new) and will often rant about things that tickle my interest.

Currently, I am progressing through Resident Evil 4, Zelda 2, Jetpac Refulled and Rayman Raving Rabbids. I just finished Zelda 1, and am about 2 levels about from completing Kirby's Adventure. I am also stuck with 200.4% in SOTN. How horrible!

Resident Evil has always been a difficult series for me. It's not because of the actual difficulty of the game, but the fact that I panic like crazy with all those zombies coming at me. I can look them straight in the eye and not be horrifyed by their looks, but just the fact knowing that I can die makes me panic. It's ridiculous, seeing as how I'll probably never beat Resident Evil 4 with this mentality.

Zelda 2 is interesting, if not completely boring. There are great concepts in the game, but a lot of it just doesn't work. What can I expect from a nearly 20 year old NES game though?

Jetpac Refulled is quite entertaining. I was never a fan of the original Jetpac, and I'm still no fan of the retro version included in the XBLA download, but the remake is fun. The atmosphere and physics are fixed, and the fact that the screen can scroll allows you to quickly move through the area. The remake resembles Geometry Wars in a way.

Rayman Raving Rabbids is just great fun. It's not the most in-depth game, but most of the quirky will games included are stupid fun at ridiculous levels. It's like a euphoria...I guess.

Well, thats my update for now. I probably will forget about this for awhile, so don't check back every day.
