[QUOTE="Wesker776"][QUOTE="Kitad"][QUOTE="Wesker776"][QUOTE="Kitad"]Hi, quick question, im thinking about buying a kinda old graphics card(6800), cuz im not planing on getting things like crysis i just want to run old stuff or semi new stuff so a couple of questions: 1) i have a 2.26 ghz intel pentium 4, do i need to upgrade 2) i have a pt880 NEO mainboard, shud i get another one? thanks

Both the processor and motherboard look shoddy. I also doubt that that motherboard has a PCIe slot, so you'd have to go with a 6800 AGP card--which are near impossile to find. You'd do well to just build a cheap 800-1000 PC.

I know, and my current card is a geforce 2 mx 400, i shud be banned of this board just for brining the name of the card up but... i cant afford that, im looking forward to building a 1500 dollar pc in a while but right now i just want to upgrade it cheaply so i can at least run old games and be able to have max resolutions on not so old games, for example age of empirse III which looks gorgeous with 6800 is 6800 really THAT hard to find?

AGP as whole is pretty hard to find. Hey, here's a good 6800 XT: http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.asp?Item=N82E16814150157 It's AGP 4/8x, so make sure it's compatible with your fossil--I mean motherboard. :P

Oh, keep an eye out for power requirements. Be sure your PSU can pump enough juice.

well who knows if i keep it long enough it may gain value as a medieval historical item thanks for the response but what is psu, i assume its a property of the motherboard that the card is gonnar require right? is there any other requirement? and how do i check it? in both the card and on my system?

so im kind of a noob when it comes to this hardware talk but for a while ive been reading and digging about making a good gaming computer but the talk about processors always confuses the hell out of me

I mean with all this dual core, multiple cores, overclocking(what the hell is that) talk,

So basicly i am running right now on a 2.26 GHz intel 4 processor but later on I wanted to upgrade my computer

My plan is to get like 1gig or 2 of ram, get vista and a directx 10 card

but I need a processor too and I seriously dont know which one would i require, the prices and how to install, i mean, i can install a gpu and ram on my own but is it hard to instal your own processor?

so yeah, could someone answer to me that questions(how processors work, what the hell is overclocking, and what processor i should get, and if it is hard to install)

oh and is there anything else im not taking into account when thinking about upgrading, i mean, is there anything else relevant to change besides the gpu, the cpu and the RAM?

thank you

PD: when is vista being released?
