Well, I haven't been on much. So I thought I would come back with a little update...and TRY to be informative. I will talk about the new map pack for Halo 3, The Legendary Map Pack. This pack features Blackout, Avalanche, and Ghost Town. During the following, I'll talk about all three new maps [INCLUDES PICTURES] so yeah....enjoy, well try to.
Avalanche:
Avalanche is a remake of the Halo: Combat Evolved original, Sidewinder. Avalanche features symmetry, this includes two identical bases and TONS of vehicles. These are very special vehicles however.....
The vehicles are snow camo. Overall, this is a huge level, and will be an instant favorite for newcomers and veterans of the game and of those who played the H:CE version. Even though its a huge map, inside the bases and secret tunnels on the landscape make great close-combat fighting for those who love close-range weapons. Others, snipers and lasers, will be taking everyone...and their vehicles out in a flash. THERE ARE MANCANNONS EVERYWHERE!
Pros: Awesome remake, love the new vehicle camo especially [my favorite thing haha]. Mixture of weapons make this a great map for some 8v8 slayer, assault, and capture the flag. People who don't really like big maps...well now they will. The mancannons are awesome...there must be atleast 20 on the map.
Cons: Uh...hmm....probably if you go too fast over the mancannon, it won't launch you. That's pretty much it, Bungie did a great job.
Blackout:
Blackout...hmm...why does that sound so familar? OH YEAH! Lockout, the most played level [and fanboy favorite] of Halo 2. Well all Halo junkies and fanboys out there...Bungie answered your prayers. Bungie remade Lockout! Instead of a desolate, 20-mile above ground base, they went with a mile high, subartic warbase. It is pretty much the same exact thing, but subartic, minus the superjumps *tear*
As you can tell from the photos above, Bungie went with creativity. The feel of the level is right, and Blackout fits the name. From the right picture [me blowing up], you can tell...yes...the sniper tower fusion coils are back, and nastier than ever! I was alive for 10 seconds, and was shot from the BR tower and the coils exploded, thus, killing me. From the left picture, you see the ice and water in the background, yeah, you can still fall over the level, but its more amusing to look at the pretty background as you wait 12 seconds to respawn for falling off because your jump was too short or too far.
Pros: Uh, everything is absolutely perfect, seriously, best Halo map TO DATE and probably for life, nothing could top Lockout, except the remake of the level with better graphics and insane gameplay.
Cons: There are none...except for falling off, AAAAAAAAAAHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHH!!!!
Ghost Town:
Ghost Town is a map based off the Dam in Sierra 117 level of Halo 3 campaign. It has a jungly feel to it, and is asymmetrical, meaning nothing matches each other. Ghost Town is what it sounds like: abandoned, decimated, wrecked, overgrown with plants, and rickerty bridges.
Decimated buildings, and rickerty old bridges and platforms..thats what you can see in the left picture. While in the right, you see the part of the level with a building with a tree growing in the middle of it, as the ground is all wrecked. Ghost Town offers great 4v4, 6v6 team slayer, assault, and some great king of the hill gametypes for all Halo player to enjoy. As Bungie calls this level, it is the "Silent Surpriser" because all player will purchase the map pack for Avalanche and Blackout, but when they play Ghost Town, WOW THIS MAP IS AWESOME, thus the "Silent Surpriser"
Pros: Like what Bungie was thinking, I enjoy this map a lot, especially playing some team slayer. It really surprised me when I played it, great to forge on too.
Cons: You get lost in this map, REALLY EASILY, for time playing. Weapons and objects are scattered unusally and needs some adapting to get used to this map.
Well, thats the Halo 3 Legendary Map Pack. It cost 800 Microsoft Point ($10.00). Any Halo 3 owner will love this map A LOT more than the Heroic Map Pack, since they just threw those together. ENJOY!!!
