Certainly the issue at hand it that people get a lot of hate online, and most of the developers who get death threats are men, since there are far more of them.

I will see sexism as a real cause of harassment in gaming when people will stop wishing cancer upon me and my family in online games. Until then I will explain stuff like this with assholes and trolls.

Using sexist or even racist remarks to insult someone does not mean that you are insulting them because of their sex or race, it just means that you think that those thing will be hurtful to that person.

What it is though, is unacceptable anti social behavior, and that is a serious issue, but you can't write it down to sexism since male developers get death threats and get harassed.

Sexism does exist, but you can't use it as a blanket explanation.

Her being harassed also is not obvious sexism since men get harassed too.

I am not saying that some of hate she got online was not do to sexism, but to say that the whole situation is a result of sexism would be wrong.

@MrOnage @Krauklis Just looked it up it counts as sexual harassment and stalking and you can even go to prison for it in the UK, but mostly you will just get a fine.

@RobDev I think that a lot of people just don't know assholes, I know a lot of them, and I will say that for the most part they just say the things they think are the most offensive to you, even if they don't actually believe those things.
