Yes some optimize for each. However, I felt many Games were Dragged down by needing to be Equivalent. Uncharted blew most of the others away.
I may still get an XBox One X myself and Dual Console again like I did in the PS3/XBox360 days as I feel the One X may be a better place to watch my Movies... Currently Vudu will not 4K on PS4 and I want to start using my New 4K TV for Movies plus I have a Dolby Atmos Setup that I have not been able to use for over a Year cause I have to run 4K movies to get the Atmos...... my other Reason I may Dual Console again is to possibly catch up on Halo which I haven't played since Halo 3 as I favor Sony over Microsoft whom hasn't proven trustworthy by their Monopolistic Tendencies.
Remember the Lowest Denominator Drags the Higher Powered one Down. Pretty much every game is developed for both Consoles so you hardly see a difference. Just as it was in the Previous Releases XBox One vs PS4 developers had to make it run on the XBox One so the PS4 Version was Dragged down by the Lower Amount of Ram provided by Microsoft.
What it will help is make better looking XBox One Exclusives tho...
I for one do not Trust Microsoft as they want everyone on a Pay to Play Plan just like they have done to Microsoft Office 365 (365 being the Number of Days they want to hit your Wallet). When they Launched the XBox One @E3 they scared everyone to the Playstation side with their Strategy to Lock your Games to your Console and needing to ping the internet once a day to prove you owned your Downloaded games... they backed off, but that still doesn't stop them from changing back to that strategy at anytime they want. It's kinda like Comcast/Xfinity Cable where I live, they proved they hate their customers by sticking it to us when they know they're the only game in town in you area... well it's come back to haunt them cause now people have their movie Libraries online (mine with Vudu/UltraViolet). Well Comcast/Xfinity is losing out on soooo many Movie Purchases cause you think I'd build a Library with a Known Theif Like Comcast. Microsoft is the Same in my Opinion (Hence this is typed on my Mac, I run work software on VMWare). Value your Customers or become the next Blockbuster Video People!!
I thought that too but the opposite direction. I was seeing the Background Dark and lacking Planes in the Background on XB1, then another section you mention was opposite. You see what you want to see and generally will see what you own as the winner, so what console do you own? LOL...
Matter of opinion. I think Gears was meh, and Last of Us and Uncharted are amazing, it's what you're into, I haven't liked the non-Bungie Halo offerings, so I picked PS4 this gen. Last gen I had both.
Uncharted and the Last of Us are amazing exclusives.
But both consoles are close this time, so get one or the other. Or get both like me. 2 PS4s, 1 Xbox One, 2 PS3s & 1 Xbox 360 (Best of all worlds) (Sorry Nintendo, just sick of Mario rehashes, sold my Wii)
It seems to change from Generation to Generation. Nintendo was 1 with Microsoft 2nd Just ahead of Sony.
So Far the Wii U looks like it is already to Hold 3rd Place while waiting for The PS4 and the 720, but so far I think the PS4 is gonna win this Generation. Can't say for Sure yet cause Microsoft is good at Marketing Inferior Products... but I think I am leaning towards the PS4 myself.
