Fairly old news but I actually haven't seen mention of it since the original announcement ages ago. Heat is near the top of my movie favorites list, top five most likely, but I'm not all that interested in the game. Expectations are too high; capturing the intensity of the bank gunfight would be very hard and nothing short of a brilliant game could. The closest I've ever got to it was Global Ops, a first-person shooter with a brilliant shot feedback and sound effect for M4s with a street level full of cars. Typical console movie game won't even come close to that.

Romance of the Three Kingdoms once you play for a couple hours and get immersed into it. Think Civilization; "Just another turn...."

Ironically, my sentiment is a little opposite of the original post. After the dialouge of FF XII, I've replayed a handful of Suikodens, Final Fantasies, and a few others this year, and most of them aren't as good as I remembered. Particularly, their writing and event scenes feel more technically juvenile and amateur in contrast to how well crafted XII's are. Especially the Suikodens, even V (which I still love, though); ironically though II's story held up the best (though the pacing is weaker than I remember; notably certain events and 'dungeons/forests' that feel archaic and time wasting). About the only 2 that really held up for me were FF VI and VII; VI because the story is so good, and VII because it still as a very tense and gripping atmosphere, always a grim, immersing mood. In terms of charm though, Suikoden V really does well. It has to since it can be harder to take serious with how light the characters can be, but nonetheless some of the cast was pretty warm and won me over like Suikoden II did (and IV massively failed at). Also, though I'm not a big FF10 fan and I actually never liked the cast, those that did like Tidus and Yuna must of found them charming. It's about the only way you could love the game since they are such a big focus.

Subjectivity aside, VII is still the strongest in overall design imo and the best representation of where the series is at today. VI is amazing, but it may feel archaic to someone not used to classic RPGs. XII is brilliant as well, but very unlike what FF is typically all about (story and gameplay wise). If you want decent graphics, go with X. It's a pretty good entry in the series. Superb, even, if you like the cast and story (I never; it was well done but it never appealed to me).

Why'd you buy one in the first place? Consider that and if it'll make you buy a PS3 again. If so, keep it. Unless you can get +80% or so what you paid for it somehow, then go for it if all the games you want -right now- are on 360.

Regularly. I played a little FF VII today, actually, to take a break from LotR Online. I still play Tactics Ogre and FF Tactics most every month, and I beat Suikoden II about 2 weeks ago. I still play more cutting edge PC games, but I enjoy my classics here and there.

Few reasons why it's prevalent right now: -Tech surge of affordable HD has strengthed the desire to cutting edge graphics -We're getting close to 'Uncanny Valley' and other mediums in success; combine the 2 and the medium itself is desperate to become as realistic (thus be taken more seriously) as fast as possible -It's only natural. They're not simply games, after all, they're -video- games. Of course people want the video element to improve.

I have high hopes for the story. AC04's was told brilliantly.
